Now you have the opportunity to help establish Karlstad Municipality's ninth secondary school, Orrholm School.

In the autumn of 2026, we will welcome our first students to grade 7. This means that during the first school year, we will have the opportunity within the framework of the employment to build a stable organization and school structure. Orrholm School was inaugurated in August 2024.

Orrholm School is built over three floors with practical aesthetic facilities on the lower floor. The secondary school will be located on the top floor. Next to the school, there is a new full-sized sports hall.

The school is centrally located yet in a picturesque environment. Orrholm School is surrounded by the lakes Orrholmsviken and Tullholmsviken and is close to the City Park. Responsibilities

Your starting point as a teacher is to work with planning, teaching, evaluation, and values-based work based on the curriculum. You will meet students in grades 7–9 and be responsible for teaching mathematics and all science subjects.

You will work both independently and together with colleagues, guardians, and other professional groups at the school to create the best possible conditions for each student. Using digital tools is a natural part of teaching, and you are expected to create a varied, challenging, and stimulating learning environment.

At Orrholm School, you will participate in subject and work teams, reflect together with colleagues, and actively contribute to teaching development and a safe learning environment. Teaching is planned in work teams where you regularly exchange experiences, create a common understanding, and develop methods together.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a qualified and certified teacher in Mathematics and Science for grades 7-9. It is an advantage if you have previous experience working as a teacher. You are clear in your leadership and skilled in communication. This is done by maintaining consistent order and routines so that students know what is expected and quickly addressing concerns or deviant behaviors by acting calmly and consistently. You have good didactic and pedagogical skills and a good understanding of and knowledge about the school's governing documents and can effectively use them in your daily work.

You have an investigative approach to your practice and adapt teaching based on the needs of the student group. You can lead and organize your work to create a conducive study environment and a good learning environment for our students throughout their school day. You have the ability to develop your teaching based on evidence-based research and are familiar with and have good experience with digital tools.

Of course, you have a professional approach and work towards good relationships with our students, their guardians, and all your colleagues at the school.
