Internationella Engelska Skolan Karlstad is now seeking a qualified music teacher to join our fantastic team. You will be responsible for teaching students in grades 4–9 (ages 10–16) together with a colleague. The teaching will take place in small groups in a fully equipped music room. The position is full-time starting from April 13, 2026.
We are looking for a qualified music teacher with the following qualifications:
- Strong vocal skills with the ability to lead singing lessons that engage both beginners and more experienced students.
- Ability to develop ideas that promote students' recordings and creative music-making, allowing them to progress in accordance with the curriculum goals.
- Good knowledge of recording techniques and digital music creation.
- Ability to analyze and clarify the components of music to create a coherent thread in students' creative processes.
As a music teacher at the English school, you will also lead one of the school choirs and have the opportunity to help develop the school band and studio activities. Therefore, it is also desirable if you have:
- Experience in arranging music for ensembles with wind, string, and band instruments at various levels.
- Experience in leading choirs with both experienced and inexperienced singers, as well as writing arrangements and parts tailored for the choir.
- Experience in planning and executing schedule-breaking events, such as Lucia celebrations and school graduations, in collaboration with the school management.
We require a Swedish teaching license, or – for international applicants – a valid teaching license/registration along with a bachelor's degree and teacher training.
