Description

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Karlstad University conducts education and research in computer science and mathematics.

We offer several programs and courses with a strong connection to current technologies and societal challenges.

As part of the subject's strategic investment in artificial intelligence (AI), we are now seeking a lecturer who wants to contribute to the development and implementation of our new bachelor's program in computer science with a focus on AI. Responsibilities

As a university lecturer, you will primarily work with:

• Participating in the development and implementation of courses in computer science, particularly focusing on AI (machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, large multimodal models, diffusion models, and deep reinforcement learning).
• Being responsible for teaching, supervision, and assisting in examinations at the undergraduate level.
• Participating in pedagogical work in collaboration with colleagues.

To contribute to a good working environment and the development of the operations, you are present and participate in daily work and community.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as a university lecturer in computer science is someone who has a bachelor's degree in computer science. Knowledge and experience in AI and related technologies are also required. A good ability to express oneself in spoken and written English is necessary.

In addition, a completed higher education pedagogical training is required. If the training is lacking, an appointment can still occur, provided that the employee commits to completing it within the first two years of employment. Assessment Criteria

Of particular importance

• Knowledge and experience in AI focusing on machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, large multimodal models, diffusion models, and deep reinforcement learning.

Of great importance

• Documented pedagogical skills and teaching experience.
• Experience in course development and teaching at the university level.
• Good collaborative skills and interest in pedagogical development.

Of importance

• Good ability to express oneself in spoken and written Swedish.

Meritorious

• Pedagogical appointments.
• Degree at the master's, licentiate, or doctoral level in computer science.

Conditions

The position is a fixed-term full-time temporary position until January 31, 2027, with a possibility of extension. Start date: as soon as possible by agreement.
