About Destination Jönköping

Destination Jönköping is a municipal company tasked with sustainably developing, profiling, and marketing the municipality of Jönköping. We work closely with the municipality, authorities, businesses, academia, and civil society, always aiming to enhance the attractiveness of the place. We are also responsible for Jönköping Theatre and Jönköping Concert & Congress. In the company, we have 22 permanent employees and about 30 hourly employees.

Your Role

As a Place Brand Strategist, you will have overall responsibility for developing, driving, and implementing Jönköping's place brand. A place brand strategy was decided in 2025, and now the really exciting work begins: making it come alive.

This involves:

  • Anchoring the strategy broadly within the municipal group, business community, academia, and among residents.
  • Concretizing, inspiring, and creating engagement.
  • Building structures and collaboration.
  • Developing communication tools that make it easy to talk about Jönköping with a common voice.

You are both the spider in the web and the energy in the room, the one who makes others feel pride and want to be ambassadors for the place.

The Team You Will Join

The company is divided into three departments - Events & Destination Development, Marketing & Communication, and Finance & Operations Management. You will be organizationally part of the Marketing & Communication department, but you will collaborate with all operational areas of the company.

In the Marketing & Communication department, six engaged colleagues work on everything from copywriting, graphic production, and web to social media, branding, press, and hospitality. With you, we will be seven, and we look forward to welcoming you!

You are used to going from idea to action and thrive in a broad role where you can work both strategically and operationally in your area. You are professional in your role and stable even when the work requires flexibility and adaptation. You are productive, self-driven, and enjoy taking responsibility. You see the big picture and have a strong commitment to both strategic and operational issues.

We want you to have:

  • Several years of experience leading projects with many stakeholders
  • Several years of experience in strategic brand work
  • A degree in a relevant field
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Experience and comfort in working independently
  • The ability to inspire and get others to pull in the same direction
  • Experience and ability to develop structures, processes, and decision-making materials
  • A valid driver's license (B)

It is a merit if you also have:

  • Experience in strategic work within the public sector
  • Experience or knowledge of place branding work
