The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transport.
The unit for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's Service Center (KSC) is part of the headquarters and belongs to the department for prisons, remand centers, and probation, providing support to the entire authority in economic and personnel administrative processes and managing and developing them.
The position is located within the section for Economic Administration. The section is responsible for supplier invoices, orders, e-commerce, customer invoices, payment flows, ongoing accounting, asset accounting, operational accounting, orders, and year-end closing.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are now looking for an experienced economist for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. In the role of economist, you will primarily work with ongoing accounting, monthly reconciliations, preparing monthly and annual financial statements, account management, conducting controls, quality assurance, and accruals, as well as providing documentation for accounting and financial statements. It also includes providing operational support and assistance to managers, caseworkers, and other colleagues within your area of work. You will work in a team and also provide support and guidance on accounting issues. The role also involves actively working on streamlining and automating routines, working methods, and the authority's invoice management process. The role also includes other tasks that are commonly found within the section and that are part of other groups' work tasks.

We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in economics or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
- Experience of several years of qualified work in economics
- Experience in year-end closing work
- Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
It is meritorious if you have:
- Other training in public accounting
- Experience working as an economist or controller
- Experience working with public accounting
- Experience working in public sector
- Experience with the accounting system Unit4 ERP
- Experience working within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and good accounting practice
OTHER

The position is classified in a security class, and a security clearance including an interview with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
