The Swedish Customs has the mission to limit organized and large-scale crime and to prevent the illegal importation of narcotics and doping agents, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, and other goods that threaten life, health, and the environment. The Swedish Customs aims to reduce the number of criminal networks engaged in drug, alcohol, or tobacco smuggling or economic crime.
The Swedish Customs consists of four operational departments: the Control Department, the Revenue Department, the Intelligence Department, and the Customs Crime Department. The Customs Crime Department is responsible for the investigative activities and technical intelligence gathering of the Swedish Customs. The operations work within the framework of preliminary investigations of crimes or measures that will lead to preliminary investigations of crimes aimed at prosecuting the masterminds behind criminal activities, reducing the profitability of crime, and significantly disrupting criminal activities.
The Customs' preliminary investigation operations consist of a national IT and Technology Center responsible for covert coercive measures, surveillance technology, and IT forensics, the Customs laboratory, and four customs crime units responsible for their respective geographic areas: south, west, east, and north. The units are divided into operational areas: surveillance, investigation of serious crimes, and investigation of minor crimes.
About the Position
As an employee in the HTM function within the Customs Crime Department, you will organizationally belong to the IT and Technology Center led by a national unit manager.
HTM officers at ITC perform administrative and executive work with special responsibility for continuously supporting the Customs Crime Department and the Intelligence Department's operations involving covert coercive measures.
As an HTM officer, you will work with the registration of covert coercive measures, access management, execution in IT systems, monitoring of the authority's mailbox, and handling incoming requests, decisions, and inquiries internally and to other authorities. You may also conduct certain training sessions within the work area and HTM.
Methodology and technology in the field are constantly changing, and you are expected to contribute and work towards both internal and inter-agency development and improvement of operations together with managers and other employees.
Leadership and management largely occur remotely, and as an employee, you are based in Gothenburg but work nationally, which means you will collaborate with colleagues located in different parts of the country. This places high demands on cooperation skills and flexibility. Internal as well as external collaboration is a significant part of daily work.
The position requires qualities such as attention to detail, responsiveness, and good judgment as sensitive information is handled daily.
The employment begins with internal training. Travel within Sweden may occur.
We are looking for someone who has:
- High school education with basic eligibility
- Swedish Customs basic training with a focus on crime prevention or equivalent education/competence in crime prevention that the Swedish Customs can assess as equivalent
- Alternatively, well-documented relevant and current experience in the work area
- Well-documented experience in presenting material in writing, orally, and digitally
- Well-documented experience in digital work and a willingness to learn more
- Swedish driver's license, class B for passenger cars
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing
- Swedish citizenship
- Experience in diary and archive management
- Experience in working with covert coercive measures
- Experience in working at the Swedish Customs
It is meritorious if you have experience in:
- Access administration
- Surveillance, investigation, and/or analysis/intelligence
- Reading and interpreting legal documents/statutes
