Job Responsibilities
Do you want a job where you meet people, help them, and create a warm welcome for travelers in the subway? In Stockholm's subway, over a million journeys are made every day, which means that no day is the same. We are now looking for engaged station hosts for both full-time and part-time work in the subway. The positions are summer temporary contracts with earliest start on May 4th and the possibility of extension.
As a station host, you are an important part of the travelers' everyday life. Your mission is to contribute to a safe, welcoming, and secure environment in the subway. You meet travelers and customers in various situations, answer questions, provide traffic information, sell tickets, and assist based on the travelers' needs. The role requires presence, a sense of service, and the ability to create security in meeting people.
To qualify for the position, you need to be at least 18 years old, enjoy customer contact, and have a calm, responsible, and solution-oriented approach.
Your main job responsibilities are:
- Provide travelers with a warm and professional reception and answer questions clearly and helpfully
- Identify travelers' needs and carry out ticket sales
- Handle and report safety deviations and work preventively for a safe station environment
- Inform travelers of traffic disruptions and other events that may affect their journey.
- Ensure a complete, clean, and safer customer environment, contribute to keeping the station fresh and free from visible litter
- Work as an external station host and be visible in the station environment to create security and presence
The position begins with a two-week full-time training, and it is required to pass the training to start working as a station host. Several courses will be held during the period from May 4th to June 8th. During the training, you will receive full salary and acquire the necessary skills to become an expert in the field. After completing the training, you will continue as a qualified station host, either full-time or part-time.
Variation in working hours and workplace requires flexibility from you as a station host. This may include early mornings, evenings, and nights, and your schedule may also change over time. The work may include responsibility for opening and/or closing stations outside regular public transport hours, which means you need to be able to get to and from the workplace on your own.
As a station host, you primarily belong to a specific line, but temporary assignments on other lines may occur if needed. We want to be clear that placement guarantees for first-choice cannot be given. For us, it is important that you are flexible and able to work across all lines when the operation requires it. As a station host, we expect you to be punctual, reliable, and take responsibility for your scheduled work, both on weekdays and weekends.
Qualifications
In the role of station host, your ability to meet people in a safe and attentive manner is central. You have a genuine interest in service and strive to always provide travelers with a warm and professional welcome. You work to create a safe and positive experience for the customer throughout the journey, while also feeling comfortable with ticket sales. To thrive in the role, you need to be able to work independently and make decisions in everyday situations, even in situations that may be intense or temporarily stressful. Therefore, it is important that you are responsible, calm, and secure in your working method.
The work takes place in an environment where safety and clear routines are a natural part of everyday life. An understanding of safety-classified work and applicable regulations contributes to both a safe working environment and a good experience for travelers. At the same time, we value good collaboration and communication skills, as you are part of a larger team and collaborate with several functions. Your curiosity about people and ability to create positive encounters is an important part of succeeding in the role. Punctuality and respect for time are fundamental for the operation to function well.
Furthermore, we see that you have:
- Preferably previous experience in service work and customer-facing roles
- Approved high school grades (or equivalent) in Swedish, mathematics, and English
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing
- Good communication skills in English
- Experience in shift work and independent work, which is considered an advantage
We are recruiting on an ongoing basis, which means that positions may be filled before the advertising period has ended. We therefore encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. If you meet the requirements and are interested in becoming part of our team, we look forward to your application.
