Security Officer at Northern Military Region Staff

About the Intelligence and Security Department – J2

The Intelligence and Security Department at the Northern Military Region Staff in Boden leads regional intelligence and security services in the four northernmost counties. The department is tasked with developing and sharing the regional security threat picture and planning, leading, and evaluating security controls within the region. Based on the current threat picture, the department develops security protection measures for the Armed Forces' protected assets. The department is also responsible for leading security operations and otherwise supporting MUST and the operations leadership at the Armed Forces Headquarters regarding intelligence and security services. The position is security classified, which means that the applicant will undergo a security clearance process to be eligible for employment.

Main Responsibilities

As a security officer focusing on security intelligence services, you will have the following main responsibilities:

  • process and analyze incoming security reports and report in IS UNDSÄK
  • conduct or participate in security threat reviews and develop security assessments
  • prepare materials for and lead regional meetings and briefings
  • handle periodic monthly reports, security investigations, permit cases, and present reported incidents weekly during internal situation updates and to higher management
  • collaborate with other authorities
  • assist in leading security operations
  • contribute to the development and direction of security intelligence services at both central and regional levels
  • assist in personnel investigations.

In addition to your main responsibilities, you are expected to participate in the daily work at the Northern Military Region Staff. Your immediate supervisors are the section chief for the security intelligence section and the department head for the Intelligence and Security Department.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or another degree that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • Previous experience working within the Armed Forces or another authority conducting security-sensitive operations
  • Current and relevant experience working with security classified information
  • Driver's license (manual transmission)

Personal Attributes

We see that you have good social skills and the ability to develop and maintain contacts with representatives from authorities and organizations. The work requires that you have a very good ability to work independently and good planning, execution, and project completion skills. You possess excellent collaboration skills, are meticulous and results-oriented as you are expected to participate in temporary workgroups. We also expect you to have good judgment, high personal integrity, security awareness, and the ability to create and maintain trust. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE

  • Good ability to process and analyze incoming information and suggest relevant security protection measures
  • Completed security training or equivalent training that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • Experience leading security investigations
  • Police or MP training
  • Experience in other analytical work
  • Good skills in handling IT systems, particularly in the MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of IS UNDSÄK, SWECCIS, and FMAP H/S

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.
Employment rate: Full-time.
Work location: Boden.
Position: Civil.
The position involves business trips and your tasks may partly be solved abroad.
The position also requires you to maintain a certain physical status. To facilitate this, you will train three hours a week during working hours.
