Friluftsmuseet Hägnan is an experience-based museum where visitors can experience history with all their senses. At Hägnan, visitors gain knowledge about how development in the region and society has created changes in people's ways of living and making a living over three centuries. The museum preserves and communicates the cultural heritage of the Norrbotten coast by bringing historical environments, buildings, objects, traditions, customs, and practices to life for visitors of all ages.

Friluftsmuseet Hägnan has historical environments and gardens, a general store, a stage, dance floors, and several other buildings. In the summer, the café, museum yards, and play areas are open to visitors, and the open-air museum is filled with animals and various activities and events. We are now looking for you who want to work with communication and hospitality in cultural and natural history with us at Friluftsmuseet Hägnan this summer!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a museum guide, you create a positive experience for our visitors and bring history to life through stories, activities, and meetings while dressed in period-appropriate clothing to provide an authentic feel. The work is varied: you alternate between meeting visitors, demonstrating historical tasks, and ensuring that our environments are in good condition.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming visitors and telling them about life in the past through guided tours, dramatizations, and activities.
  • Actively bringing rural life from the late 1800s to the 1920s to life by demonstrating historical tasks such as wool carding, baking, and laundry, and inviting visitors to participate.
  • Daily supervision of youth working through Luleå Municipality's summer jobs.
  • Planning and carrying out the practical tasks of the workday, both independently and together with colleagues.
  • Being responsible for the museum's yards and environments, which includes:
    • Opening and closing the environments.
    • Cleaning environments and visitor areas as well as light maintenance.

The employment period is from 2026-06-10 to 2026-08-16.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is interested in history and cultural heritage, enjoys meeting people of all ages, and is passionate about communication and storytelling. You are very concerned that everyone receives a good reception and enjoy activating and interacting with children as they make up a large part of our visitors. We therefore believe that you are an outgoing person who is social and active. You are curious, responsible, and take initiative. We place great importance on personal suitability.

  • Minimum high school education.
  • Experience working in a museum or visitor destination, or performing on stage, etc.
  • You need to be comfortable speaking in front of others and can convey your message according to your audience, whether it is a smaller family or a larger group.
  • You speak Swedish and English fluently.

It is an advantage if you:

  • Have practical skills in crafts and handiwork.
  • If you speak additional languages such as German, French, or Finnish, it is an advantage.
