Development Leader for the Management Staff with a Focus on GIS

The Fortifications Agency is seeking a development leader for the management staff with a focus on geographic information (GIS). The Fortifications Agency owns, develops, and manages robust defense properties for peace, crisis, and war. With our unique expertise in defense properties, we create secure environments for a robust total defense.

Your Daily Life – Contribute to Sweden's Defense Capability

You will belong to the management staff, which has a coordinating role within the management department. The management department consists of six regions with associated staffs, technical units, operational districts, and managers who work directly with our property portfolio. In addition to the regions and management staff, there is also a management support unit in the department. The management staff is led by the chief of staff, and about 20 employees are gathered in three groups.

The business development group consists of a group leader and 6 employees. The group is responsible for the department's business development, some system management, improvement work regarding processes and routines, and preparedness development.

As a GIS development leader, you will work closely with the business to drive development and improvement of working methods, processes, and system support related to GIS. The role is both strategic and operational and involves broad collaboration within and outside the organization. You will collaborate with the GIS system management team and IT to improve and ensure the quality of information within the GIS operations.

Your Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Represent the management department in collaboration with internal and external parties within the GIS area
  • Have a coordinating and collaborative role to support the entire management department in GIS-related issues
  • Initiate, participate in, and implement business and process development
  • Drive improvement work and projects
  • Follow up and evaluate the operations and conduct analyses
  • Create documentation for preparation and decision-making
  • Plan and conduct training initiatives within GIS
  • Work towards unified working methods and ensure the quality of GIS data and information

Travel is included in the position as the Fortifications Agency operates throughout the country.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree as a technical surveyor, in geodata and geographic IT, or another education that can be deemed equivalent. You also have several years of experience working with geographic information and extensive knowledge of GIS and geodata management. You have good knowledge of ArcGIS and experience in business development or process work. You have very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form. Good administrative skills and experience using administrative IT systems are required. A valid driver's license (class B) is a must.

Experience in information security and IT security is an advantage. Experience working in ESRI's .net framework is also considered a merit. It is beneficial if you have worked within or against public operations and have experience in change management and project work.

About the Employment

The position is a permanent employment and may start with a probationary period. As a permanent employee, you will be placed in a wartime position. The place of employment is Eskilstuna or Stockholm. Employment with us requires Swedish citizenship and involves placement in a security class. A security review with a background check will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act.
