Join EY as Nordic Senior Legal Counsel for Privacy and shape how we protect data and enable responsible innovation across our business. You’ll be part of a high‑calibre Nordic Data Protection team working closely with experienced legal counsels from EY Nordics, backed by a global and regional network of world-class lawyers, active forums and continuous capability development.
The opportunity
Together with the Nordic Data Protection team, you’ll lead privacy strategies across the Nordics, guiding how complex data, technology and AI matters are managed in practice. In this senior role, you shape key privacy processes, advise stakeholders on high‑impact decisions and drive Privacy by Design in digital initiatives. You’ll work across borders, collaborate with expert teams and influence how the organization navigates evolving regulatory and tech landscapes.
Your key responsibilities
As Legal Counsel for Privacy, you will play a key role in shaping how we manage data protection across our Nordic business. You’ll act as the senior legal advisor on Privacy, Technology and AI, guiding the organization in making responsible, compliant and future‑focused decisions. Working closely with stakeholders across our business areas and enabling functions, you help embed privacy into everyday processes and support the organization in navigating complex regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Act as the Nordic Lead for Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), reviewing and providing strategic and operational legal advice on new systems, tools and processing activities
- Actively supporting and guiding business stakeholders in the completion of relevant GDPR documentation, including Records of Processing Activities and DPIA’s. Leading a broad range of privacy initiatives, including implementing, monitoring and enforcing EY’s Data Protection framework, policies and Binding Corporate Rules across the Nordics
- Maintain close and continuous collaboration with global and regional data protection counsels to ensure consistency, knowledge sharing and alignment across jurisdictions.
- Ensure that Privacy by Design and by Default principles are embedded into business processes, digital initiatives and technology development
- Providing legal support on data breaches, data subject requests and other complex privacy matters
- Deliver training, guidance and awareness activities to strengthen privacy maturity across the Nordic organization
Skills and attributes for success
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 6-7 years of experience working with Data Privacy, preferably from an in-house role, law firm or regulatory authority, operating across multiple jurisdictions
- Substantial hands-on experience advising on GDPR and Nordic data protection laws in a multinational environment
- Attention to detail and strong legal drafting skills that can be used in a commercial setting with business stakeholders, as well as in public setting with data subjects and data protection authorities
- Experience with privacy risk assessments, data breaches and privacy governance frameworks
Meritorious
- Relevant certifications, e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM, AIGP or similar
- Experience of projects in the AI & digitalization space

- An effective communicator with strong stakeholder‑management skills and a genuine interest in technology, AI and responsible data use
