Description
The Community Development Unit works with complex societal issues that require coordination, long-term commitment, and a knowledge-based approach.
The unit is responsible for development and coordination in areas such as domestic violence and honor-related violence and oppression, safety and crime prevention work, public health, social perspectives in urban planning, EU and international matters, as well as promoting and preventing issues related to alcohol, drugs, doping, tobacco, and gambling addiction (ANDTS).
Job Responsibilities
Are you a collaboration professional with a passionate commitment to societal issues and process development? Then we are looking for you!
We are now seeking a business developer for the Community Development Unit. The role combines a strategic perspective with a clear implementation focus and involves working closely with both the unit manager and employees in daily development work. The role primarily includes providing clear operational and practical support in the operations and to the unit manager in daily tasks. You contribute both by carrying out activities yourself and by relieving, preparing, driving, and following up on the work together with the manager in ongoing assignments.
You are a close support to the unit manager in driving assignments, processes, and improvement work. In this role, you contribute to creating structure, pace, and context in the unit's development work and serve as a bridge between management and operations.
You are actively involved in the unit's planning and follow-up work and contribute to ensuring that the unit's assignments, priorities, and results have clear connections to the department's, administration's, and city's overall assignments and goals. You have a holistic perspective and see how the unit's work contributes to the development of the city area of Centrum and Gothenburg as a whole.
The content of the assignment may vary over time based on the unit's needs, current priorities, and ongoing development work. Examples of identified assignments that the unit is currently focusing on include work on domestic violence, ANDTS issues, and safety and crime prevention work.
In the role, you lead and coordinate joint development processes – from concretizing assignments and working methods to supporting the implementation of new methods and following up on results – as an extended arm to the unit manager and management in operational development work.
Your tasks include:
- Being a close support to the unit manager in driving assignments, processes, and improvement work.
- Providing operational support to the unit manager and operations in ongoing assignments, including carrying out activities, preparing materials, coordinating efforts, and following up on deliveries.
- Leading development work from planning and analysis to implementation and follow-up.
- Coordinating, supporting, and ensuring quality in development work within the unit's areas of responsibility.
- Supporting employees in the operations in translating strategies, action plans, guidelines, and national goals into practical and effective working methods. Initiate and maintain collaboration with other administrations, authorities, and civil society based on the unit's assignments.
- Preparing decision-making materials, analyses, reports, and service statements to support management and governance.
- Following up, analyzing, and making results visible for learning and continued development.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a relevant university degree in areas such as public administration, political science, social sciences, social work, behavioral science, public health, or another area deemed equivalent by the employer.
You have good knowledge of community development issues and experience working with development and coordination assignments within one or more of the unit's areas of responsibility.
You have experience in business development, process management, and/or project management and are accustomed to working closely with managers and providing them with operational support and relief in development and change work. To succeed in this role, you also need documented experience in leading processes and developing methods for teams and groups.
To succeed in this role, you need experience in supporting the visualization of processes into communicable materials. You need experience in creating and following up on processes towards measurable results.
You also need to be proactive and make independent decisions within the framework of your assignment. You need to have the ability to determine when to make your own decisions and which issues to consult with others. You take initiative and responsibility for ensuring that work progresses, whether you are working alone or with others.
You need to be flexible and enjoy challenges as well as wanting to develop new structures for the assignment. You need to be able to overview your own area of responsibility and place your own operations' significance in a larger context. You show interest in and collaborate on overarching issues to create added value.
You are committed to ensuring that your work is performed accurately and thoroughly while leaving nothing to chance. You check and follow up on your work to ensure it maintains high quality.
Does this sound like you? Then you are warmly welcome to apply!
