The Swedish Customs has the mission to limit organized and large-scale crime and prevent the illegal importation of drugs, doping agents, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, and other goods that threaten life, health, and the environment. The Customs Authority aims to reduce the number of criminal networks involved in drug, alcohol, or tobacco smuggling or economic crime.
The Customs consists of four operational departments: the Control Department, the Revenue Department, the Intelligence Department, and the Customs Criminal Investigation Department. The Customs Criminal Investigation Department is responsible for the Customs' criminal investigation activities and technical intelligence gathering. The operations work within the framework of preliminary investigations of crimes or actions that will lead to preliminary investigations of crimes aimed at prosecuting the masterminds behind criminal activities, reducing the profitability of crime, and significantly disrupting criminal activities.
The Customs Criminal Investigation Department consists of a national IT and technical center responsible for covert coercive measures, surveillance technology, and IT forensics, the Customs laboratory, and four criminal investigation units responsible for their respective geographical areas: South, West, East, and North. The units are divided into operational areas: surveillance, investigation of serious crimes, and investigation of volume crimes.
About the Position
Within the Customs' crime fighting efforts, criminal investigators at the Customs Criminal Investigation Unit have the primary task of investigating serious crimes led by public prosecutors.
Criminal investigators at the Customs' crime fighting efforts actively participate in the operational phase of the preliminary investigation and work with:
- Investigating crimes, conducting interviews with suspects and witnesses, collecting investigative materials, reviewing seizures, and verifying evidence,
- Working in teams with analysts and financial investigators to effectively advance cases
- Structuring, analyzing, and processing investigative materials
- Compiling preliminary investigation protocols
- Contacting representatives/lawyers and interpreters
- Overseeing social contacts with relatives of suspects
- Participating in various forms of assistance requests and collaborating with other functions within the Customs as well as with other authorities, both Swedish and foreign
- Participating in house searches and apprehensions for questioning when necessary
- Assisting prosecutors in court hearings when applicable
We are looking for someone who has:
- Completed the Customs' basic training in crime fighting or basic training in another crime-fighting authority deemed equivalent with a passing result, or post-secondary education in a relevant field for the position
- Relevant experience in practical investigation work, or experience in practical work within another authority that the Customs considers relevant for the position
- Good computer skills
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form
- Swedish driver's license, category B
- Swedish citizenship
It is advantageous if you have:
- Training in criminal investigation
- Good ability to handle basic programs in the Office suite to report, document, and present
- Experience in crime fighting within the Customs
- Language skills beyond Swedish and English
- Experience working with covert coercive measures

Employment form: The position is a permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period.
Individual salary setting applies.
Domestic travel may occur, as well as limited international travel.
On-call duty may occur.

The Customs is a total defense authority, and upon hiring, you will be placed in the Customs for military service.
