Job Responsibilities

The Labor Market and Adult Education department operates four Competence Centers in Gothenburg with the common goal of supporting job seekers towards employment or studies.

We are now looking for a labor market consultant for the Competence Center Centrum-Väster.

Our competence centers work on behalf of the social services with the aim of helping individuals become self-sufficient through work or studies. Participants in the program receive support both individually and in groups through motivational and coaching conversations, study and career guidance, internships, preparatory measures, job search activities, and skills-enhancing training. You will work alongside other labor market consultants, job brokers, employment officers, and vocational and study advisors as well as occupational therapists. The team consists of approximately 15 people. The unit has a coordinator who, in close collaboration with the unit manager, leads and provides methodological guidance in daily operations.

In your role, you will support and motivate participants both individually and in groups to help them achieve their goals. You will work closely with the Social Services, the Employment Agency, and our contracted services and employers. You will initiate and conduct multi-party conversations when necessary. You are the spider in the web and responsible for your participant's journey through the Competence Center. As a labor market consultant, you ensure that participants are offered services that meet their needs and lead to relevant progress for the individual. You will ensure that individual implementation plans are established and continuously followed up and developed to contribute to effective matching. You will provide feedback to the Social Services and document in Treserva and the operational system GW Labor Market.

This position is a temporary contract lasting until June 2027.

Qualifications

You should have a university degree of 180 credits with a focus on behavioral sciences, such as a degree in social work, or another equivalent education that the employer deems relevant. You need to have at least two years of experience in change work with individuals who have complex support needs to approach self-sufficiency.

It is an advantage if you have experience collaborating with financial assistance within social services and are accustomed to working with various stakeholders around the individual. Furthermore, it is a plus if you have further training in conversation methodology, such as motivational interviewing (MI). It is also advantageous if you have experience with documentation in the operational systems Treserva and GWA as well as working with various labor market initiatives.

As a person, you have a pronounced service-oriented and professional approach. You believe in people's own abilities and are good at motivating and creating a working alliance. You easily build trusting relationships with both participants and partners and see opportunities in meetings. You enjoy challenges, are open to new solutions, flexible, and driven. You are considered to have a particularly good ability to work collaboratively with others. You are clear and persistent.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
