Summer Substitute Social Worker at Södermalm

About 27,000 people aged 65 and older live in Södermalm.

Of these, approximately 3,400 people receive some form of assessed assistance, primarily according to the Social Services Act. The Elderly Care Authority is tasked with ensuring that the elderly receive the right support at the right time – focusing on quality, safety, and self-determination.

For the spring and summer of 2026, we are now seeking summer substitutes as social workers for our teams. We are looking for you who are studying to become a social worker, are passionate about the elderly target group, and want to gain valuable and rewarding experience in authority work during your studies.

To provide you with a safe and good start, we would like the introduction and work to begin as early as spring, by agreement.

Welcome to us

The Elderly Care Authority at Södermalm consists of 77 employees, of which 52 are social workers. The work is organized into several teams with different focuses, including geographically divided home groups, groups dealing with more complex issues, and discharge planning from hospitals.

The unit is led by a district manager, unit managers, and team leaders, and has several support functions working with fees, invoices, transport services, and housing coordination, which provides good conditions for support, collaboration, and learning. Here, you will meet experienced colleagues, accessible leaders, and a good working environment with high job satisfaction.

Your role

As a summer substitute social worker with us, you will play an important role in ensuring that the elderly residents of Södermalm receive the right support. Your task is to investigate, decide, and follow up on the need for assistance according to the Social Services Act (SoL), with the support of colleagues and team leaders.

The work involves, among other things, contact with elderly individuals and their relatives, collaboration with other actors, and documentation in the City of Stockholm's operational system. You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues with extensive experience and build a solid foundation for your future career as a social worker.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has drive and a genuine commitment to elderly care. You meet people in a respectful and empathetic manner and have the ability to build trust even in complex situations.

You enjoy collaborating, are communicative, and have an open and problem-solving approach. You plan and organize your work effectively and can easily adapt when circumstances change. As a person, you are secure, stable, and have a realistic perspective when meeting people and in the role of an authority worker.

Requirements:

• You are studying to become a social worker or have another academic education that the employer deems equivalent
• You have completed the legal course within your education
• Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
• You can work mainly throughout the summer. Some flexibility is available at the beginning and end of the summer, but presence is required during the main holiday period

Meritorious:

• Experience in elderly care
• Experience of work or internship in authority work
