SMC Administrator at the Swedish Coast Guard

The Swedish Coast Guard is a civil government preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and environmental rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. During preparedness for environmental rescue, we work preventively with environmental monitoring while promoting a sustainable marine environment. We also supervise and control fishing, customs, border control, hunting, and nature conservation at sea. Additionally, we work to enhance safety through maritime traffic monitoring and maintain constant readiness for search and rescue operations. Description

SMC (Swedish Coast Guard Maritime Clearance), which is part of the Coast Guard's Permits and Supervision Section, is the contact point for the administrative control of advance notifications from vessels as a result of the Schengen Agreement and for the Coast Guard's tasks regarding maritime security.

SMC collaborates closely with the authority's operations center and cooperates with other authorities.

SMC consists of five SMC administrators located in Stockholm, Hammarby Sjöstad, who staff the function on a schedule every day of the year. We are now looking for an SMC administrator.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the SMC administrator include, among other things:

• preparing, analyzing, and registering vessel notifications in the KIBS database
• creating materials for monitoring vessel arrivals and departures and producing statistics for case handlers and the operations center
• managing IT support systems in SMC and the authority's IT systems
• providing materials to the operations center, intelligence section, and cooperating authorities
• providing materials to the operations center in matters concerning border crossing permits
• performing other tasks assigned by the head of the Permits and Supervision Section

Independent work occurs, primarily on weekends.

Qualifications

As an applicant, you must have at least a high school diploma with passing grades. You are accustomed to working where you continuously communicate via phone and/or email with many different parties. You have excellent administrative skills and extensive experience handling various IT systems, as well as good knowledge of using the Office suite.

Experience working at a government authority is an advantage.

We expect you to have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.

You enjoy routine-based work and working in a function where all colleagues essentially have the same tasks. You are meticulous, good at planning and structuring your work, and possess strong analytical skills. Furthermore, you are positive, flexible, and engaged. You take initiative and are good at handling stressful situations. You work well with others but also independently. Personal suitability will be given great importance.

Conditions

The employment is permanent and begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date as soon as possible/according to agreement.

Swedish citizenship, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act are required for employment.

The Coast Guard participates in foreign missions and international operations. Therefore, the position includes an obligation to serve abroad when required by the operations.

In the case of permanent employment, there is also an obligation to be assigned to military service.
