JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for someone who wants to be the secure hub for young people's opportunities and future dreams – a study and career counselor with a heart for relationships, development, and guidance!

In Hallstahammar, we offer two introductory programs on our own: Individual Alternative (IMA) and Language Introduction (IMS), for young people studying towards high school eligibility, adult education, or the labor market.

As a study and career counselor, you will be the heart of the unit – you see each student's potential and guide them with care during a crucial phase of life. You contribute to developing and improving the guidance work and work from the primary school level, with a special focus on the introductory programs and KAA.

With us, you work with guidance from primary school and are an important support person when young people take their first steps towards high school. You conduct introductory and mapping conversations with unauthorized students in grade 9 who will start in our introductory programs and contribute to a clear and welcoming start to their continued schooling.

You follow the students during their time in the introductory programs and provide support regarding high school eligibility, course selection, and transition to adult education or work-oriented alternatives. Your presence and guidance create structure, motivation, and realistic goals for the future.

Within the framework of the municipal activity responsibility (KAA), you meet young people who are outside of studies and work. In your role, the focus is entirely on guiding and supporting these young people towards high school programs, adult education, or other training that can enhance their future opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct introductory and mapping conversations before starting the introductory programs.
  • Hold individual and group guidance conversations.
  • Inform about high school choices and educational paths at parent meetings.
  • Guide and support students and KAA youth towards high school programs, adult education, or other educational options.
  • Support with applications, program choices, and re-choices.
  • Collaborate with Student Health, schools, and educational providers.
  • Participate in networks for study counselors.
  • Document and follow up on guidance efforts according to guidelines.
  • Contribute to developing and quality-assuring the guidance.
  • Be responsible for CSN reporting on the introductory programs.

As a SYV with us, you build bridges between school forms and opportunities, support young people in important choices, and empower them to find a future.

You truly make a difference in young people's lives – every day.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic degree as a study and career counselor.
  • Experience working with youth aged 16-20 is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of high school programs, eligibility rules, and admission processes.

Personal Qualities

You are secure, attentive, and relationship-building. You build trust and create good collaborations – with students, but also with guardians, colleagues, and external actors. You are structured, see opportunities when the way forward is not obvious, and have a genuine interest in youth development. You have the will and drive to be involved in developing and quality-assuring the operations.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability, and that your view on collaboration and job satisfaction aligns with our values.
