Are you a positive and engaged teacher in chemistry and biology ready for new challenges? We are currently seeking a qualified teacher for grades 7-9 at Karlbergsskolan.

Karlbergsskolan is a middle school with approximately 400 students and about 50 staff members. The school is located in the central parts of Köping, close to both the city center and public transport. We have an active development process focusing on knowledge, attendance, safety, and study environment. Karlbergsskolan's vision is "A safe school where everyone has the right to a good day and is prepared for the future." The lead teachers at the school drive professional development related to teaching at Karlbergsskolan. There is a music profile with about 15-20 students per grade.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a teacher in chemistry and biology, you will plan and conduct lessons that include both theoretical and practical elements. You will deliver creative teaching with effective strategies to reach students and promote their knowledge development. You enjoy utilizing students' ideas and allow them to demonstrate their knowledge in various ways.

If you are qualified in mathematics, there may also be opportunities to teach mathematics.

You will build good relationships with students and their guardians.

You will collaborate closely with the school's other science teachers and be responsible for the chemistry department.

You will serve as a contact teacher alongside a colleague for one class.

Together with other staff, you will contribute to developing your workplace through ideas and improvement suggestions. There may be an opportunity for a lead teacher assignment for 2 years if the right qualifications are met. This role involves driving subject development in chemistry and biology within the subject team and leading professional development regarding teaching quality at the school. This includes conducting workshops for all staff and hosting visits from teachers to your lessons, as well as making lesson visits with follow-up.

QUALIFICATIONS

• You are a certified teacher in chemistry and biology for grades 7-9.
• You have the ability to implement the curriculum and other governing documents in your work.
• You have a clear structure in your lessons and work both theoretically and practically with students.
• You have strong leadership skills and can build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have good knowledge of safety in science labs and chemical handling.
• You are familiar with the rules and requirements in the chemistry department.

If you are qualified in mathematics, it is an advantage.

Qualifications for the lead teacher assignment:

• You have more than 5 years of experience teaching chemistry and biology with good evaluations.
• You have strong leadership in the classroom.
• You are well-acquainted with various types of assessment situations.
• You have previously led development projects.
