JOB DESCRIPTION

As a university lecturer, your main tasks will be teaching. Teaching also includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. Collaboration is an integral part of the university's research and education mission, and as a university lecturer, you will actively contribute to the university's development work. The tasks also include general administration and professional development, as well as participating in the daily operations of the subject and the academy.

In your role as a university lecturer, you will participate in theoretical teaching in nursing science with a focus on care, as well as practical exercises within the nursing program. Supervision in thesis courses and project management courses is also part of the teaching.

The position also includes actively collaborating with healthcare organizations and working as a clinical lecturer. Being a clinical lecturer means supporting supervisors' pedagogical work with students and students' learning to combine theory and practice, as well as leading examinations and assessments in connection with clinical placements.

The nursing program is conducted at three campuses: Eskilstuna, Nyköping, and Västerås. Teaching may take place at all campuses.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skills and holds a master's degree or equivalent competence.

The pedagogical skills must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.

To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those who are hired but lack higher education pedagogical training will be offered to undergo such training during the employment within two and a half years. The higher education pedagogical training at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

For this position, the following eligibility requirements apply in addition to those established in the Employment Regulations at MDU.

We are looking for someone who is a licensed nurse. You should have good oral and written communication skills in Swedish at the level required to perform regular tasks in teaching and administration.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

The assessment criteria will include both the degree of skill required for the position and the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the tasks well.

In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, particular emphasis will be placed on the following for this position;

It is highly meritorious for the position to have experience in teaching at a higher education institution and working as a clinical lecturer within the nursing program.

Furthermore, experience from clinical practice and experience working with main supervisors/mentors within clinical placements is also meritorious.

In a comprehensive assessment of suitability, personal abilities will also be considered. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for their work, and contribute to a good working environment.
