The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. With us at SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS youth home Sundbo outside Fagersta receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues as well as criminality and substance abuse. We are tasked with providing care for young people with special care needs and receive boys who have been sentenced to secure youth care (LSU).
Job Description
Young people who come to us are in a problematic and tough life situation. Many have negative experiences of school and low confidence in their own abilities. As a teacher with us, you will work with these students and have a unique opportunity to ignite their desire to learn and make them proud of themselves. Teaching takes place in small classes, which allows you ample time for each student. You always start from individual needs and build trusting and professional relationships that make the young people feel safe at school.
Sundboskolan constitutes a separate unit within the institution where we collaboratively plan, teach in smaller groups, evaluate, and develop the schoolwork at the institution. Teaching at Sundbo is aimed at both upper secondary and compulsory school levels, with most students being between 16-20 years old. The school activities within SiS follow the same regulations as other educational institutions, except that necessary deviations in teaching may occur with regard to the student.
Sundboskolan is responsible for the education of all enrolled young people, regardless of issues or placement form. All young people residing in the youth home should receive the education they need and are entitled to. We work closely with the young people and maintain a positive spirit in both work and relationships. The teachers both teach and have a mentoring responsibility for the students.
Qualifications
You should be motivated to teach and build trusting pedagogical relationships in smaller teaching groups consisting of students with psychosocial issues and criminality. It is important that you can identify and meet the student's needs with high realistic expectations and motivate and guide the student towards their goals. We prefer that you are unpretentious, flexible, can set and maintain boundaries in a respectful manner, and have confidence that all students can find a path to education and work.
You are secure, stable, and calm even in stressful situations. You have good collaboration skills, high social competence, and a positive view of students. You also understand the importance of adapting to changing circumstances and see the benefits of change. You are proactive and participate in the development work to achieve the school's goals and always take responsibility for your tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work effectively. The job requires that you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing and that you consider adapting your communication depending on the recipient.
You should:
- be a licensed teacher in physical education and health.
- have the ability to plan, teach, and follow up on your teaching.
- have experience in pedagogical work in a school environment.
- have a B driver's license.
Preferred qualifications:
- additional subjects beyond physical education and health

- previous work within introductory programs or work in special teaching groups.
- previous experience working in secure youth care/within SiS
