Work in a Cross-Professional Team

You will work in a cross-professional team where you, together with family counselors, offer a welcoming meeting place for children and parents, parenting support, and parent education. This is a job for you who enjoy building relationships, working outwardly, and initiating collaboration.

Your Responsibilities

We are located in seven different districts in Västerås, and our operations are characterized by high accessibility, lack of prestige, and a clear focus on children, youth, and parents. Each family center consists of two staff members in the open preschool and two family counselors. Together, you work to provide a welcoming meeting place. You and your colleague are responsible for the open preschool and for providing content for returning visitors. An important part of our mission is to create trust and strengthen the confidence between parents and public services.

You meet and create good relationships through a listening approach. Your ability to create good relationships, your experience, and knowledge of children's needs and development enable us to build a professional arena for our families. We encourage equal parenting and strengthen parents' confidence in their parenting.

The open preschool is an inspiring and creative environment where children and parents enjoy being together through play, music, and creative activities. Here, you hold singing and rhythm gatherings with children and parents every day. We encourage and facilitate contact-making between our visitors. You will also have the opportunity to conduct parent education and contribute to the development of the educational activities.

Above all, it is the meeting with people that is at the center of your day.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with a broad contact surface and a large flow of visitors where you act as a host. You are comfortable speaking in smaller and larger contexts, in front of both small and adult participants. You have a preschool teacher degree and experience working in preschool or open preschool, and you enjoy leading activities for children and parents. It is a plus if you have training in any parent education program such as ABC or Komet.

You are motivated by working to build relationships and follow current research that supports good interaction between parents and children. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing, and it is a plus if you speak multiple languages. You also need to have knowledge and an interest in digital tools and development.

Additional Information

Before you can be employed, you need to present an approved extract from the police criminal record.

During the interview, you need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a certificate of residence together with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit.
