Personal Assistant Wanted

I am currently looking for a personal assistant for myself, a woman residing in Alvhem.

The job will initially be a part-time position with daytime work on both weekdays and weekends.

The most important thing in my life is my family – my husband, our two wonderful children (15 and 17 years old), and our two large dogs. Therefore, it is very important that you are comfortable with dogs and enjoy being around animals. We live in a rural area, and I am used to being outdoors daily.

I have an interest in animals and nature as well as cooking, and it is a plus if you share these interests.

I have been diagnosed with ALS and need assistance with everything in my daily life – from personal hygiene to flipping through a magazine. You will be my hands and feet. Heavy lifting may occur, but it will be done with assistance devices, which will gradually make the work easier.

A driver's license is desirable.

Our family approaches life with humor and laughter, so a positive outlook on life and a good sense of humor are considered great assets in you.

The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that those with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Normally, the person receiving assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with specific knowledge about the individual is appointed.
