About the position

As a career guidance counselor, you will work closely with participants who need support, guidance, and motivation to find their way forward. You help them explore their goals, interests, and strengths – and match them with education and professions that suit their conditions.

The assignment has a clear focus: to contribute to better matching in the labor market, strengthen the individual's position, and counteract a gender-segregated labor market.

Your tasks include:

• Individual career guidance and coaching
• Mapping of skills and goals
• Matching with education or work
• Collaboration with employers and educational providers
• Support in choosing a path forward and increased self-awareness

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is confident, communicative, and skilled at building relationships. You thrive in a role where you can inspire, challenge, and support others to reach their full potential. You are solution-focused, structured, and have a clear goal and results orientation. We see a great need for language skills, especially in Somali but also Arabic, so if you speak these languages, it is a significant plus.

Requirements

To be considered for the position, you need:

• At least one (1) year of post-secondary studies full-time with a passing grade
• At least three (3) years of work experience (full-time) in one or more of the following areas:
• Leadership with personnel responsibility
• Recruitment
• Transition work for job seekers
• Study and career guidance
• Handling personnel issues (not just administration)
• Work with labor and labor market issues
• Work with social and group psychology
• Career guidance

Desirable skills and experiences:

• You speak Somali (highly desirable)
• You can also speak Arabic (desirable)
• You have a coaching approach and a good ability to motivate others
• You are structured, solution-focused, and self-driven
• You have good digital skills and experience in holding online meetings
• You have a strong local network and good knowledge of the labor market
