Who am I?

My name is Carl and I was born in May last year with a rare diagnosis. We live in an apartment in central Gothenburg where we spend most of our time, but we also have a summer house in Lidköping that we sometimes visit over weekends and holidays. As my assistant, you will support and follow my development in several areas. I will need help from both you with extensive experience in care and support, but also give an opportunity for you with a junior profile who still has a big heart and curiosity. We develop together with experienced and new assistants on our shared journey.

This is what a day with me might look like:

Since I am a small child, I need close care and support for my needs. Due to congenital breathing difficulties, I have a tracheostomy tube (trach) implanted that requires constant supervision and care. I enjoy cuddling and feel safe in company. I snuggle with my parents and like to go for walks in my stroller. With me, there are always two assistants working as I need someone who sees me all the time and interprets my signals about what I need help with. Much of my routine is also structured, but you will learn that during your introduction and as you get to know my needs. You will accompany me on my journey in the early stages of life, which will also include future hospital visits and surgeries.

Who are you?

With me, you need to be a secure person who respects and is curious and attentive to my needs. You are responsible and have an easy time adapting to routines in speech and writing. Communication needs to be clear and smooth, as acute situations may arise that need to be resolved effectively and safely. We would like you to have experience or be studying for a care or rescue service profession, but above all, that you have an interest in me as a small child and want to learn new things. If you can use some sign language as support, that is a big plus, but it is not a requirement. If you have experience working with tracheostomy or have worked in healthcare, that is an advantage. We want to build an assistant team where both you with long work experience and you who are just starting your career can contribute and develop. The job with me starts immediately, so it is good if you are flexible after that.

About the position:

The position is 65%. Day/evening, 26 hours of employment in the basic schedule, 28 including on-call shifts.

In addition to the work shifts, the position also includes being on-call according to a schedule once a week. On-call means that you are reachable by phone for a few hours and ready to step in and work if a colleague gets sick. These on-call shifts are either from 7-11 (for day and evening shifts).

The position is to start immediately. However, employment will take place before that as you will be scheduled for shadowing and trach training.
