The Position

50% at each school (about a 15-minute walk between the schools)

Båtsmansskolan and Vällsjöskolan have a natural collaboration as students from Vällsjöskolan F-6 continue their schooling at Båtsmansskolan 7-9. Already in grade 6, students from Vällsjöskolan begin their transition by studying modern languages, music, and home economics at Båtsmansskolan. As a counselor, you will have a unique opportunity to follow students throughout their primary school years and create long-term relationships that make a real difference in their development.

At Båtsmansskolan, you will meet about 190 students in grades 7-9 as well as a municipal special needs group. There is a strong sense of community where all adults are equally important for students' success. The school is characterized by motivated students, a successful PALS work with a focus on relationships, and a creative interdisciplinary approach with several thematic focuses each school year. Participation and the factors for students' success are at the center.

Vällsjöskolan is a small and pleasant F-6 school by Vällsjön with about 200 students. With one class per grade and a high staff density, we create a safe environment where all adults know each student. Experienced educators work in cohesive teams to provide all students with the best possible conditions to achieve the curriculum goals. The school has two after-school departments and a leisure club, as well as a playground that invites play and activity in a beautiful natural environment.

Your Mission

As a school counselor, you are part of the student health team and contribute with psychosocial competence at the organizational, group, and individual levels. You collaborate with the school nurse, special educator, school psychologist, school doctor, and principal in health-promoting and preventive work.

Your Responsibilities Include:

• Participating in and driving value-based and safety work
• Support conversations and motivational talks
• Collaborating with guardians and external actors (social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, etc.)
• Information, consultation, and guidance in the psychosocial area
• Sounding board and partner to principals, teachers, and other staff
• Hands-on work with students through workshops and group exercises

Requirements for the Position

Qualifications:

• Degree in social work (licensed health and medical care counselor is a merit)
• Good ability to communicate in spoken and written Swedish

We are looking for someone who:

• Has competence in health-promoting and preventive work
• Works systematically with good documentation skills
• Can work independently and values collaboration
• Is flexible and solution-oriented
• Preferably has experience working as a school counselor, especially in middle school

To obtain employment, a certificate from the police's criminal record must be presented.
