Support Educator for Housing with Special Services

Funktionsstöd is a department within the elderly and care administration of Mariestad municipality. We are now investing and recruiting a support educator for housing with special services/group housing according to LSS.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will work as a pedagogical support to your colleagues, which means that;

• Work to increase the users' participation, integrity, independence, and self-determination.
• Have a special responsibility for the development of the pedagogical activities.
• Gather and disseminate knowledge about sustainable and evidence-based pedagogical methods to drive the operations forward.
• Actively listen to employees' thoughts and ideas and include them to create joint development in the operations.
• Work reflectively and supportively with other employees regarding documentation and the establishment of implementation plans.
• Assist and support employees with development work in pedagogical methods to increase individual participation and independence in their daily lives.
• Supervise students from relevant educational programs related to the support educator role.
• Be actively involved in regular professional and networking meetings.

In your work, you will collaborate with other support educators in the municipality. You will also have contact with relatives, employees, and colleagues in group/service housing, nurses, unit managers, and others.

QUALIFICATIONS

To work as a support educator, you need to have a suitable education such as post-secondary specialization in the field of disabilities with a pedagogical focus that includes at least 200 vocational college credits or 60 university credits. Alternatively, you have a combination of YH and university credits that correspond to at least two semesters of full-time studies.

As a support educator, you are required to have a good understanding of various disabilities and how they affect individuals' daily lives, as well as being responsive to their needs. You have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both users and colleagues. This includes both verbal and non-verbal communication. The role also requires knowledge of pedagogical approaches and the ability to work in a low-arousal manner.

You are skilled at motivating and engaging your colleagues in development work. Furthermore, you need to be responsible, see solutions instead of obstacles, and enjoy varied tasks and workplaces. We consider a humble approach and valuing good collaboration as a given.

It is advantageous if you have knowledge of disabilities combined with challenging behavior and mental health issues. We would also like you to have knowledge of welfare technology in the field of support.

We see that you have knowledge of applicable LSS legislation, documentation, and quality assurance, and are accustomed to planning, reflecting, and evaluating your work.

As a support educator, there is an opportunity to influence the design of the work in close collaboration with colleagues and the unit manager.

A valid driver's license (B) is required.
