About the Job

We are now expanding the MST teams in the Social Administration Nordost!

MST (Multisystemic Therapy) is an evidence-based treatment recommended by the National Board of Health and Welfare as an alternative to placement for children and adolescents with norm-breaking behavior such as substance abuse, criminality, school problems, and aggression.

The treatment is conducted at the family's home and in the environment where the youth is located and targets all individuals in the youth's life, such as friends, relatives, school staff, field secretaries, or police. As an MST therapist, you work closely with the family and their private and professional network to break the destructive behavior.

As support in your work, you will undergo a five-day training in MST to complement your existing experience in social work within social services and/or treatment work. Additionally, you will receive collegial support in a closely-knit team, weekly supervision from the team leader, and consultation with an MST expert, providing you with regular learning and quality assurance in the work performed. You will also be offered in-depth knowledge through joint meetings with teams from different parts of Sweden to gain specialized knowledge in specific areas.

In your role as an MST therapist, you will have good opportunities to tailor your work according to what suits you, with the condition that you can offer families meetings approximately two evenings a week. In this assignment, you will have a significant role through on-call duty every sixth week to provide families with around-the-clock support and guidance as needed. An additional salary supplement applies to this assignment.

The unit is also part of a research study related to work time innovation and a 4-day work week, which means you will be offered a gift day every week. MST in Nordost has consisted of two teams since 2024 to serve all four social administrations in Gothenburg, and we are currently in a period where we are expanding both teams to reach more families.

Qualifications

For this position, we are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another education deemed equivalent by the employer. We need you in our team who is interested in working systemically and wants to develop your skills in family work. You are a flexible and responsible person with good collaboration skills who can work goal-oriented in families and with their networks in a structured and independent manner.

The MST team receives consultation and training from the Swedish MST organization. Initially, you will be offered a 5-day basic MST training, so you do not need to be trained in MST when applying.

Consultation and training will be conducted partly in English, and therefore good knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written, is necessary. Experience in family work, family therapy, or cognitive therapy is an advantage.

A valid driver's license (B) and driving experience are required. Selection and interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. We warmly welcome your application!
