to apply for the job
Owned by municipalities – driven by engagement! For over 20 years, Gryning has offered HVB and open care for children, youth, and families, emergency and family homes, addiction care, supported apartments, interventions against honor-related violence and oppression, as well as LSS housing. We provide counseling and training and assist with placements. Gryning is owned by the municipalities in Västra Götaland through the four municipal associations.
Gryning's HVB for protection receives youth aged 14-18 who have a need for protection due to honor. This means that we are a protected accommodation that works with the youth to learn to live safely while receiving help to manage their well-being and what they have been exposed to.
By the summer of 2025, we are looking for both protection educators for scheduled full-time daytime work, as well as protection educators for scheduled sleeping on-call work corresponding to 50-57%.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
What does the position entail?
As a daytime protection educator, your working hours are from 8 AM to 8 PM on a rolling 5-week schedule. You will work two weekends out of five. You will perform various tasks that occur in an HVB home. This involves supporting our placed youth and contributing to a safe environment where change is possible. The work also includes practical tasks such as cooking and cleaning. You will be the contact person for 1-2 of the placed youth, responsible for their planning and documentation. You will always work together with at least one colleague.
As a sleeping on-call protection educator, you will work scheduled hours from 7:30 PM to 8:30 AM the following day. Sleeping on-call is included and usually occurs between 12 AM and 8 AM. You will work every other weekend. Two protection educators are always on duty at the same time as we do not use solo staffing. Your tasks involve care and supervision of the youth, focusing on maintaining safety, calm, and security. Practical tasks such as ordering supplies and cleaning are included.
QUALIFICATIONS
Who are you?
We are looking for someone with at least a two-year post-secondary education, or an equivalent education, with a focus on social work, social pedagogy, or behavioral science. If you have previous experience working with youth and/or in HVB, it is an advantage. We seek someone who can work both independently and in a team, who is attentive, self-assured, and has an easy time building relationships with others. You thrive in an environment where no day is the same, are proactive, and have the ability to reflect on your own and others' behavior. Since the work involves travel, a valid driver's license (B) is required.
