Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions

We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

The Education Administration in Stockholm is Sweden's largest administration with 16,000 employees.

We are responsible for the operation and development of the municipality's 143 primary schools and 26 secondary schools. The primary school department's mission is to realize the goals and visions of the education committee for the city's municipal primary schools and adapted primary schools, based on the Education Act, regulations, curricula, and other regulations. The operations include preschool classes, primary schools, adapted primary schools, and after-school care. The primary school department supports and creates conditions for schools to fulfill their missions. The department's staff also assists the primary school director and primary school managers in leading and managing operations at the municipal level.

We are now looking for a successor to the local coordinator of the primary school department who is retiring.

We offer

In addition to exciting tasks, engaged colleagues, and a good working climate, we offer you good employment benefits such as wellness grants and good flexible working conditions. Our workplace is centrally located in Stockholm, opposite the City Hall on Kungsholmen.

Job Description

Main tasks:

  • support primary school managers and principals, especially in their contacts with the Education Administration's local unit and with School Properties in Stockholm AB (SISAB)
  • act as a bridge between the primary school department, the local unit, and SISAB by clarifying responsibilities and assisting with communication
  • represent the school operations in all projects concerning school premises, for example during evacuation and renovation
  • be responsible for schools' additional funding in construction projects and establishment grants
  • monitor and manage authority issues related to local matters, such as the Work Environment Authority and the Environmental Administration
  • draft letters to authorities, committees, and citizens
  • investigate student population development and local capacity before making decisions on funding for new establishments
  • collaborate with the sports administration and follow up on schools' rentals of sports halls
  • support primary school managers with financial follow-up

Other tasks may also occur.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for someone with a relevant university or college education and suitable professional experience in the field. We prefer that you have experience collaborating with schools on construction issues and that you understand both the school's organization and its local challenges. Experience from similar tasks within Stockholm's municipal primary school operations is likely a good background for the role of local coordinator. The tasks do not require any specific construction competence, although it may be valuable in certain contexts.

As the local coordinator's mission is varied, we are looking for someone who can reason, negotiate, and make decisions in matters that often lack regulations. The work requires you to easily collaborate, create good relationships, and communicate in a accommodating and clear manner. You need to be knowledgeable, judicious, attentive, responsible, meticulous, and able to take initiative and work independently based on your function. Daily work involves juggling many tasks simultaneously. It is important that you can express yourself well in good Swedish, both orally and in writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Welcome with your application!

In connection with your application, you will be asked to answer a question that forms the basis for our continued selection process for this specific position.
