About the Job

We are now looking for two support assistants who want to help create a safe and meaningful everyday life for our tenants at Fjällängen.

Fjällängen is a residence with special services (BmSs) focusing on autism and intellectual disabilities.

At Fjällängen, 6 adults with physical, mental, and cognitive disabilities live, with a wide range of social abilities and within the autism spectrum. Here, tenants are offered support around the clock based on their various needs.

It is important to create safety in the residence for the tenants and to avoid any unnecessary stress, as this can affect the support and interaction with the tenants. The tenants are our focus, and we work in a low-arousal manner, treating them with respect.

The methods we use in our work include clear pedagogy and alternative augmentative communication. Several of our tenants do not have verbal language. Visual support is used to increase the participation and self-determination of the tenants in their daily lives. With a clear environment, we support the tenants in sorting impressions. Clear pedagogy involves answering questions and providing responses to make the day understandable, manageable, and meaningful.

Your responsibilities include being a contact staff member. You will also be responsible for creating implementation plans together with the tenant and educator, as well as documenting your work.

The working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends. We base our work hours on the needs of the tenants and need to adjust them accordingly.

About You

We are looking for someone with a degree from the Health and Care program, support assistant training, or the Child and Leisure program with a focus on social and pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a specialization in the disability field that includes at least 200 YH points, 120 university credits, or 60 university credits with two years of work experience with people with disabilities. The courses should be in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer considers equivalent. If you do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, you may be offered to take a language test through the testing user Educateit. Experience and a good ability to work with social documentation are also required.

It is a requirement that you have several years of experience with intellectual disabilities and autism, as well as experience working with AAC.

It is advantageous if you have practical knowledge of LAB (low-arousal approach), ESL (An Independent Life), Clear Pedagogy, IBIC (Individual Needs in Focus), and MI (Motivational Interviewing). It is also an advantage if you are a competent swimmer, as we have swimming as a regular activity every week.
