About the Job

We are now looking for a dedicated support assistant who wants to help create a safe and meaningful everyday life for our tenants at Västra Tvärskedet in Utby.

Västra Tvärskedet is a group home with special services located in a quiet and cozy residential area with nature and nice walking paths. There is a spacious garden and a large terrace for recreation and leisure.

At Västra Tvärskedet, five adults with multiple disabilities at an early developmental level and of mixed ages live. The tenants need support from staff to create and maintain their daily routines, care, medication, meals, and individualized activities to have meaningful content in their everyday lives.

We work from a salutogenic approach, which means we focus on the healthy and strive to create a sense of coherence in the tenants' everyday lives. We see potential, support development, and help each other in our work instead of thinking that it is faster to do things ourselves. The methods we use in our work are clarifying pedagogy and alternative and augmentative communication. None of our tenants use verbal language. Visual support is used to increase participation and self-determination in everyday life. Through a structured and predictable environment, we support the tenants in sorting impressions and creating understanding, so that the day becomes comprehensible, manageable, and meaningful.

Your responsibilities include being a contact person. This means that you establish implementation plans together with the tenant and educator and document your work continuously.

Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends. We base our schedule on the tenants' needs and need to adjust working hours accordingly.

About You

We are looking for someone who has a degree from the Health and Care Program, support assistant training, or the Child and Leisure Program with a focus on social or educational work. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

Communication is an important part of the job, and therefore good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form is required. You should have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1. If you do not meet the qualification requirements, you may be offered to take a language test via the testing user Educateit. Experience and good ability to work with social documentation are also a requirement.

It is also a requirement that you have several years of experience with the target group of intellectual disabilities and autism, as well as experience working with AAC (alternative and augmentative communication).

It is an advantage if you have practical knowledge of working methods and methods such as LAB (low-arousal approach), clarifying pedagogy, and IBIC (Individual's Needs in Focus). It is also an advantage if you are a competent swimmer, as swimming is a recurring activity every week.
