Karolinska University Hospital is looking for a biomedical analyst

About the position

Karolinska University Hospital is today one of Europe’s leading university hospitals with approximately 15,000 employees. In the Stockholm region, we have a special responsibility for highly specialized care, and together with Karolinska Institute, we conduct education and world-leading research in various fields. As a university hospital, our main missions are research, education, and development of healthcare.

The tasks include handling and processing formalin-fixed tissue for microscopic diagnosis. We also take care of unfixed tissue during ongoing surgery for rapid diagnosis.

A large part of the work is manual, but we use advanced automated equipment as support. Quality work, improvement work, maintenance of equipment, and handling of chemicals are integrated into the daily work. Supervision of students and receiving study visits, especially from the biomedical analyst program, occurs regularly.

We are now looking for employees for a permanent position and an 8-month temporary position, located at the histopathology laboratory in Huddinge. Both positions are full-time positions of 40 hours per week. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:30, and we offer the possibility of flexible hours.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensed biomedical analyst or other relevant natural science education deemed equivalent.
  • Documented experience of work in histology/histopathology.
  • Good knowledge in tissue handling, cutting, sectioning, and staining.
  • Proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written
  • Basic IT skills and experience with laboratory information systems

Meritorious:

  • Experience working in a histological laboratory within hospital operations.
  • Experience with histological methods.
  • Experience in quality assurance, validation, and method development.
  • Experience handling larger sample volumes
