Specialist Physician in Pediatric Consultation Psychiatry

Do you want to make a difference for children and adolescents aged 0-17 with psychiatric issues and concurrent somatic illnesses? BUP Consultation Unit is now looking for a specialist physician with an interest in pediatric consultation psychiatry!

BUP Consultation Unit offers psychiatric assessment and treatment at a specialist level for patients whose psychiatric issues are associated with or caused by underlying somatic diseases.

This may include children with serious or chronic illnesses such as cancer and diabetes. Another important target group is children and adolescents with complex functional disorders. The BUP Consultation Unit collaborates closely with pediatric medicine. The role also includes participating in psychosocial rounds and providing consultation to the staff of children's hospitals.

The BUP Research and Development Center (BUP FoUU) is a section that serves as a cohesive resource for research, development, and education within BUP Stockholm (SLSO); based on clinical activities involving assessments and treatment of pediatric psychiatric patients. Currently, there are five clinical units within BUP FoUU: the Consultation Unit, OCD and related conditions, gender incongruence and gender dysphoria, as well as internet-delivered treatment, along with several projects and studies in collaboration with various research groups at KI.

Job Responsibilities

The work involves psychiatric assessments of children together with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and colleagues, with a strong focus on collaboration and consultations with somatic pediatric care. Specifically for consultation psychiatry, the psychiatric assessment and treatment are particularly tailored based on knowledge of somatically ill children and adolescents and the care provided in pediatric clinics. Assessments may include complicated differential diagnostics and consultations regarding pharmacological interaction effects. The consultation psychiatry role also encompasses creating understanding and providing knowledge about children with psychiatric symptoms and/or disabilities, collaborating and supporting colleagues in pediatric clinics.

Participation in operational development and systematic operational follow-up is included as part of the daily work.

Qualifications

We are looking for a child psychiatrist with an interest in pediatric consultation psychiatry who wants to help develop the operations.

Experience in pediatric psychiatric assessment, diagnostics, and treatment is a requirement, and you are also welcome to have experience in other pediatric care, project work, research, or other development work.

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Stockholm (BUP) offers specialized psychiatric care for children and adolescents under 18 years within the Stockholm region.
