Manager for Review Unit at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency

Every year, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency makes 21 million decisions that affect people's lives and society as a whole. We disburse approximately 260 billion SEK each year. These are public funds that we manage. It is a significant responsibility. Therefore, we thoroughly examine each case, adhere to laws and regulations, inform and guide, care, and show compassion. The Department for Disability and Permanently Reduced Work Capacity administers a large number of social insurance benefits – including assistance compensation, sickness and activity compensation, and compensation for work-related injuries. The Legal Support operational area is responsible for the department's reviews, litigation in court, and legal support for case management and development activities. Together, we form a force and engine in the legal quality work of the department.

We are now looking for a manager for one of our review units. The unit consists of about twenty employees located in several locations across the country. As a unit manager, you will be part of the operational area's management team, together with the operational area manager and your fellow managers. We are in the midst of an exciting development phase, and you will have the opportunity to help shape our working methods and approaches for increased legal quality in case handling.

Courageous Leadership, Sustainable Workplace, and Development Work

As a unit manager, you are the leader closest to the employees and the operations. You are responsible for leading and driving daily work based on the department's mission and goals, where the state value base permeates your work. Through your leadership, you convey clear expectations, follow up on goals, and provide your employees with the right conditions to take their responsibility. You have personnel responsibility as well as result and follow-up responsibility for the teams in your unit.

Your unit will consist of approximately 20 employees working with reviews and based in your location and remotely. Through close leadership, you create the predictability, security, and sustainability necessary for employees to take their responsibility and meet the need for change. You create understanding of the context, direction, and the goals set by the department and develop the plans your operations need. You adapt and exercise your leadership in a way that creates conditions for employees to use their judgment and competence.

As a unit manager, you are a support for the operational area manager, and you are part of the operational area's management team where you contribute your expertise and engagement. You are responsible for independently and together with your colleagues driving development work in the operational area.

The position involves handling confidential information, which places high demands on proper management. Therefore, it is essential that you, who will work with us, have a high level of security awareness.

It is advantageous if you

  • have experience in operational leadership in similar activities
  • have experience in production management of case handling
  • have experience in leading change and remotely
  • have a good understanding of the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's mission
  • have experience working with development work in government agencies, preferably within the social insurance area
  • have good knowledge of the social insurance system.

A position, permanent, full-time, with start date by agreement. A probationary period may be applicable. In accordance with the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's security guidelines, background checks will be conducted in this recruitment. Possibility for remote work exists if the work allows. In this recruitment, psychological tests may be used as part of the selection process. Regular travel is required in the position. Locations: Stockholm (Telefonplan) or Gothenburg.
