Legal Manager at Kommunals a-kassa

About the position:

As a legal manager, you have overall responsibility for ensuring that the unemployment fund complies with applicable laws and regulations. You lead the legal unit and are responsible for our legal governance, development, quality assurance, and continuous improvements.

You are a central advisor on legal issues for the board, management team, and other managers in the organization. The position also includes developing strategies for how the unemployment fund will meet new demands from the outside world and representing the organization in contacts with supervisory authorities, other unemployment funds, and partners.

You report directly to the fund manager (CEO), are part of the management team, and are an adjunct member of the board.

Your main responsibilities:

• Be responsible for the legal governance of the unemployment fund and develop strategies for efficient and legally secure authority exercise.
• Lead, manage, and develop the work within the legal unit.
• Ensure that the legal unit proactively analyzes and clarifies the scope for action and interpretation based on current legislation, and supports the organization in applying this in a legally secure manner that enables efficient and purposeful processing processes.
• Be responsible for ensuring that the organization has access to the legal governance and support needed to effectively and legally securely carry out its mission.
• Create and develop appropriate structures to identify development needs and meet those needs.
• Establish clear and measurable goals that show how the legal operations' efforts impact the efficiency of processing processes, including processing times and the number of decisions made.
• Ensure a high level of service for legal advice. Ensure that there is high legal competence in relevant areas of law.
• Develop and create governing documents within the legal area.
• Personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility for the legal unit.
• Represent the unemployment fund in external contacts and collaborations within the legal field.

About you:

We are looking for someone who is self-assured, has high integrity, and a solution-oriented approach. You can effectively steer the organization towards set goals, are action-oriented and structured, make correct priorities and trade-offs, and are meticulous even during high-paced periods.

With good collaboration skills and a habit of building networks and good relationships, the legal manager creates high trust both externally and within the organization.

You have experience and a strong background in successfully leading workgroups towards set goals.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Law degree and completed clerkship.
• At least 5 years of experience in qualified legal work, preferably within government operations, unemployment funds, or non-profit organizations.
• Experience in successfully leading qualified legal operations, legal development work, and being responsible for legal governance.
• Several years of managerial experience with operational, budget, and personnel responsibility, as well as documented good leadership skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• The ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new tools and systems.

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a six-month probationary period starting as soon as possible or by agreement. Kommunals a-kassa has a collective agreement with Handels.

The position is located at our headquarters in Stockholm. Regular travel within the position occurs.
