We are now looking for up to two enthusiastic postdoctoral researchers for our interdisciplinary research group in AI focusing on AI and education.

Your Responsibilities

The main focus of the position is to conduct research related to AI and education. This includes how AI affects education, how to use AI for education, and developing courses and educational materials to teach AI.

There are great opportunities to steer the direction of the research yourself. We are always open to suggestions for new exciting research directions.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be part of the responsibilities, but no more than 20% of the working time.

Your Qualifications

To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have obtained a PhD or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a PhD. Your degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made.

It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, candidates who obtained their PhD earlier may also be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.

We are looking for candidates who have a PhD in a relevant technical field related to AI, machine learning, or similar. Knowledge and experience in AI are required. Ideally, you have a background in both AI and education.

Scientific curiosity and the ability to think independently are essential personal qualities. You are expected to collaborate with colleagues to support the research group's activities and work with other team members on various projects. You must also have good oral and written communication skills in English. Good oral and written communication skills in Swedish are an asset.

Your Workplace

You will work in the Reasoning and Learning (ReaL) lab at the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS) at the Department of Computer Science (IDA) at Linköping University.

Linköping University is a center of research excellence in AI with strong and broad research and education from both a technical and interdisciplinary perspective. We are the coordinator for the EU project TrustLLM, which develops trustworthy and fact-based language models. Additionally, we host Sweden's largest research programs, the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), the Wallenberg AI and Transformative Technologies Education Development Program (WASP-ED), and the National Academic Infrastructure for Supercomputing in Sweden (NAISS), which includes an Nvidia SuperPOD (Berzelius).

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems has a high international reputation for its research in many areas of AI dating back to the 1970s. The Reasoning and Learning unit primarily conducts research in machine learning, reasoning, and the combination of these with applications in areas such as autonomous systems, multi-agent systems, and practical applications in both public and private sectors.

About the Position

The position is a fixed-term appointment for two years with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time.
