Your Responsibilities

Your starting point as a preschool teacher is to have the overall pedagogical responsibility in the preschool. You are expected to lead and distribute the pedagogical work within the team while contributing to creating collegial learning. The team will work together to plan, teach, document, and evaluate the content of the activities based on the preschool's curriculum and other governing documents.

As a preschool teacher, you promote each child's development and learning based on their interests, experiences, and needs. You create curiosity and a desire to learn, both during planned activities and spontaneous moments.

In your role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues and guardians, as well as any contacts with other actors concerning the child.

Your Workplace

The preschool area T1/Vasastaden consists of seven preschools, which vary in size. The smallest preschool accommodates 25 children, while the largest accommodates 120 children.

In the preschools T1/Vasastaden, we focus on preschool teachers' leadership, work environment, and good collaboration at the area level. We work based on a language goal with a strong emphasis on waiting for and meeting the children. We also engage in co-planning to ensure good staffing at all our preschools every day.

The administration is centrally located at Brunnsgatan 10, where the principal and deputy principals work alongside the area's administrative assistant, staffing administrator, and special educator. At the preschools T1/Vasastaden, we also have three lead preschool teachers and a janitor. In the surrounding area, there are great opportunities for cultural activities and rich nature experiences, such as libraries, museums, as well as nearby wooded areas and playgrounds.

Who We Are Looking For

We primarily seek candidates who have a preschool teacher's license. Alternatively, we are looking for candidates with a degree from a preschool teacher education program. You may also be in the final stages of your preschool teacher education.

It is a requirement that you have experience working with children in a curriculum-based preschool through internships, employment, or volunteer work. It is advantageous if you have worked for at least one year in a curriculum-based preschool where you have been involved in planning and teaching based on the curriculum.

You have good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary for you to organize and carry out work so that the child receives support in their language and communication development, as per the curriculum (Lpfö18). You are responsible for ensuring that each child can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

In your role as a preschool teacher, you create good relationships and collaborate well with children, colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community relevant to your profession. You have a good understanding of human differences and respond to them sensitively in teaching and the everyday life of the preschool. You lead the work with both children and colleagues through motivation, engagement, and participation. The role also involves working with your colleagues on the applicable goals and quality standards for the preschool.
