This is an advertisement for a PhD position in electrochemistry. The working language is English, and therefore the rest of the advertisement follows in English.
Redox.me, a market leader in electrochemistry tools for science, is seeking a scientist to support R&D activities in the field of redox flow batteries. This position also entails undertaking an industrial PhD program conducted jointly by redox.me and Linköping University.
Your work assignments
A PhD student has various tasks such as attending courses, reading and learning on the research topic, design of experiments, performing experiments and analyzing the results, writing scientific articles, presenting orally the research in conferences, driving the research. More especially, the research topic is about electrochemistry, especially the electrocatalysis of conducting polymer electrodes; as well as the design and optimization of flow electrochemical technologies, such as redox flow batteries.
As an industrial doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include other duties in the company, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
Your workplace
The research work is performed both in the laboratory of the company redoxme AB (https://redox.me/) in Norrköping under the supervision of Dr. Pawel Jerzy Wojcik and in the laboratory of organic electronics (https://liu.se/en/research/laboratory-of-organic-electronics) in Norrköping at Linköping University under the supervision of Prof. Reverant Crispin.
This recruitment is connected to the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE, wise-materials.org). WISE, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is the largest-ever investment in materials science in Sweden and will encompass major efforts at Sweden’s foremost universities over the course of 10 years. Your qualifications
You have graduated at Master’s level in chemistry or completed courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced courses in chemistry. Alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way. Qualifications in electrochemistry are also advantageous skills. Language skills in writing and speaking English are meritorious. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
Terms of employment
When taking up the post, you will be admitted to the program for doctoral studies. More information about the doctoral studies at each faculty is available here.
All early-stage researchers recruited into the WISE program will be a part of the WISE Graduate School (https://wise-materials.org/research/graduate-school/), an ambitious nationwide program of seminars, courses, research visits, and other activities to promote a strong multi-disciplinary and international network between PhD students, postdocs, researchers, and industry.
The PhD program has a duration of four years’ full-time equivalent. You will initially be employed for a period of one year. The employment will subsequently be renewed for periods of maximum duration two years, depending on your progress through the study plan. Upon completing your doctoral studies, we would be happy if you continued working as an R&D scientist at Redox.me.
Starting date
As soon as possible, but no later than May 2025.
Salary and employment benefits
The salary of doctoral students is determined according to a locally negotiated salary progression in agreement with regulation at Linköping University (see here.)
