About us

Gunnes Gård is a reconstruction based on an excavation of a farm from the 11th century. The museum has varied activities depending on the season. The farm is built in collaboration with the Stockholm County Museum and is operated by Upplands Väsby Municipality.

The farm consists of several houses with enclosures and is open from April to October for the public and somewhat longer during the year for booked events. During spring and autumn, time travel activities with school classes are conducted alongside guided tours. During weekends and summer months, the farm is an open-air museum for everyone. During the open season, the farm has farm animals.

About the position

The position primarily involves work on weekends and during the summer season. However, you may also be called upon to assist in school activities. The roles include the following:

• Conducting tours of the farm and its surroundings for both pre-booked groups and drop-in visitors
• Conducting tours with ancient crafts and inspiring craftsmanship during regular opening hours
• Daily care of the farm's animals
• Conducting time travel activities with school classes
• Other educational activities
• Sale of souvenirs

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a trained educator and/or has experience working with children
• Is a trained archaeologist/historian and/or has knowledge of and interest in ancient history, especially the Viking Age

It is an advantage if you have an interest in and preferably knowledge of ancient crafts.

It is important to have the ability to take children on a time travel experience. As a person, you are flexible and can make quick decisions. To succeed in the role, it is also important that you are service-oriented.

You should be in good physical condition and be prepared to pitch in as the days can be quite intense. We also expect you to easily adapt to prevailing circumstances and possess a great deal of patience and a good sense of humor.

We will request a police background check for the final candidate.
