Family Support Worker at Lindesberg Municipality
This is a unique opportunity to apply for the position of Family Support Worker at Lindesberg Municipality. The Social Services and the Department of Education are taking new steps towards collaboration to provide children and their families with the opportunity for a safe and good school environment. Currently, there are 3 employees, and if necessary decisions are made, we can hire an additional person in 2025, who will initially be on a fixed-term contract, with the possibility of the position becoming permanent.
Organizationally, the Family Support Workers are under the Social Services' open care, where there is a broad and consolidated competence around working with families. Family Support Workers are part of the social services' promotional and preventive work and play an important role in the new Social Services Act. By being part of the red thread for the whole family, with a focus on providing support in parenting so that children have good conditions and can grow up in a safe environment together with a functioning school life.
The main workplace will be at a selected school within Lindesberg Municipality and in close collaboration with the school and student health team, as well as other actors, both internally and externally.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
What does it mean to work as a Family Support Worker?
You will primarily work from a promotional and preventive perspective. You will be a natural part of the school and a link in the dialogue that takes place between the school, the student, and the family where there is a need.
By supporting and strengthening guardians regarding the child and its development, the conditions for success in school are strengthened. Family Support Workers are a natural part of everyday life at school to meet guardians and students. Much of the work is individualized based on the family's need for support, both through individual conversations, group sessions with various themes, or other needs arising from the role of Family Support Worker. Being a natural sounding board for everyday family questions is an important part of the job. A strong focus is placed on relational work, working together with school staff to build good relationships with guardians and students to promote student development. Collaboration with other important partners in the community is also a central part of the work.
Since this is a relatively new position, it will be important to find collaborative forms and follow up on the work being done to ensure it is as effective and supportive as intended.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with relevant education from a university, such as a social worker, behavioral scientist, social pedagogue, or other education that the employer deems relevant.
We are looking for someone with great commitment and self-motivation to drive processes, take initiative, have a good ability to create relationships, and be flexible to achieve success. The ability to follow up on work to find the right level requires you to be analytical and open to both the aspects that work well and those that need improvement to achieve success together with the family. Being brave and willing to test new methods to achieve a safe and supportive result is essential. Being warm in your approach but still able to set boundaries when necessary is important.
Since Lindesberg Municipality is large, it is required that you have a B driver's license and can travel to the relevant school.
We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. It is advantageous if you have experience from previous work similar to this position. We will also require you to present a criminal record check upon employment.
