Skogforsk is now looking for a software developer who wants to help develop digital infrastructure for research as well as prototypes of decision support and other tools for forestry.

The ongoing digitalization is well on its way to changing the conditions for how modern forestry can be conducted. Digital descriptions of standing forests, along with data from forestry machines, have become valuable sources of knowledge about the forest and the foundation for many innovative applications. And there is demand for more. To effectively utilize all the opportunities of digitalization, we also need to strengthen the technical infrastructure both internally and collectively in the research world. Therefore, we are looking for someone who wants to contribute innovative IT solutions for use both within Skogforsk and with our partner companies.

Your profile

To thrive in the role of software developer at Skogforsk, you need solid technical knowledge, experience working closely with stakeholders/users, and a curiosity and interest in learning new technologies and applications. We are looking for someone with a relevant higher education in computer and systems science and about 10 years of experience in software development. You must have a personal drive and good collaboration skills. You will work both independently and in a team to further develop Skogforsk's internal IT infrastructure for research and participate in various projects that develop prototype tools for demonstration purposes. We use Microsoft's platform as a base but also various types of open source technologies when they better match the needs. Experience in development and architecture both on-prem and in a cloud environment is a merit.
