In the spring of 2024, a reorganization took place where the recovery ward, both in terms of personnel and organization, transitioned from belonging to the intensive care unit to belonging organizationally to anesthesia/operation as a separate unit. At the same time, a merger of the pre- and post-op orthopedics and pre- and post-op surgery occurred because in the future, we will jointly staff the operations at the New Hospital Malmö (NSM). The move is planned for the fall of 2025, and then we will be operating in modern, high-tech equipped facilities, which in itself poses an exciting challenge. In other words, you will have the opportunity to be part of shaping a new department with new work methods.

The pre- and postoperative unit is divided into two, surgical operation and orthopedic operation. Orthopedic operation has 10 beds, and surgical operation has 15 postoperative beds. In addition, we have both day surgery and inpatient patients, and we are open from 07:00 to 21:30, Monday to Friday. Surgical operation post-op provides care around the clock, mainly to surgical, vascular, and urological patients. During on-call hours, it is the hospital's only open postoperative department and serves all other operating specialties at Skåne University Hospital (Sus), Malmö; orthopedic operation, female surgical operation, and reconstructive surgical operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a specialist nurse with us, you will have the opportunity to work characterized by trust, participation, and personal responsibility. Patient care is characterized by evidence-based and scientifically anchored treatment methods. Here, we work based on a person-centered approach with respect and empathy. We work in teams, and you work together with competent and experienced assistant nurses and basic-level nurses. During the shift, you will take care of up to about four patients and a varying flow of admissions and discharges. The care we provide is characterized by a high presence of doctors.

As a new employee, you will receive an individually tailored introduction based on your previous experiences. We assume that everyone has an individual learning process and consider it natural that you should receive support from colleagues to become confident in your new role.

We use a preferred schedule and Multiaccess scheduling program. The working hours are scheduled from Monday to Sunday, involving both day and night shifts. We offer a flexible working hour model that entails a reduction in working hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you as a licensed specialist nurse, primarily with a focus on intensive care, anesthesia, surgery, or acute care, but other specialist training will also be considered. Furthermore, you have language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale. If you also have experience in emergency care, surgical/urological care, pre- and postoperative care, or intensive care, we see it as advantageous.

When it comes to you as a person, you are responsible and structured, with the ability to prioritize in independent work. You can professionally and with care and respect interact with patients, relatives, colleagues, and students. We also see that you enjoy working in a team and like working at a varied pace. We assume that, like us, you are driven by the desire and interest in developing postoperative care. You are also motivated to actively participate in the continuous improvement process we are in.
