The Surgical Outpatient Clinic in Malmö at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) cares for patients needing surgical treatment for conditions such as gallstone disease, various types of hernias, intestinal diseases, cancer, severe rectal problems, stoma care, and breast surgery.

The Acute Surgical Ward and Surgical Ward 7 treat patients in need of highly specialized surgery and care. Our patients primarily come from the emergency department and the acute care unit (AVA). We strive for a fast care flow where patients are cared for with us for about one to five days. Patients have varying degrees of care needs, creating a diverse work environment and great opportunities for personal development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We have the opportunity to welcome two new nurses to our acute and advisory team. One of the positions is as a nutrition coordinator within the team.

As a nurse in the acute and advisory team, you will be responsible for telephone advice and follow-up of patients who have been admitted to our surgical wards. You will provide advice and support to patients both by phone and during outpatient visits. In addition, other administrative tasks are included in your role. The work involves both independent tasks and close collaboration with colleagues within the team as well as with staff from other professions and departments.

For the position of nutrition coordinator, you will combine work in the acute team with patients who are to receive or have received a PEG inserted. You will handle referrals for admission or assistance with PEG, assist in the insertion of PEG in the operating room and endoscopy, receive patients with complications or PEG changes in the outpatient clinic, and train staff within Sus as well as in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. You have language skills in Swedish that correspond to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale. Education in urology-gastroenterology therapy or incontinence is meritorious, as is experience with pelvic floor-related issues. Experience in telephone advice is also an advantage.

As a person, you are self-assured, responsible, and have good collaboration skills. In your interactions with patients, you are empathetic, a good listener, and have a strong ability to see the patient's needs. You also have the ability to plan, prioritize, and structure your work independently. Other important qualities include flexibility and an interest in driving improvement work and organizational development together with other team members.
