- Leading and developing the unit – Create structures and working methods that ensure a high-quality and efficient reception function.
- Driving change – Shape the operation in line with the intentions of the new Social Services Act.
- Personnel responsibility – Lead and support approximately 20 employees, including group leaders, and work for their professional development.
- Budget and quality responsibility – Ensure that the operation maintains high quality and works within given financial frameworks.

- Promoting innovation and teamwork – Develop new working methods and strengthen team culture to create a modern and coordinated social service.
This is a unique opportunity for you who want to combine strategic leadership with operational work and make a real difference – both for your employees and for the residents of the municipality.
About the Workplace
The joint reception is a new and central part of the social administration's department for needs-assessed support in Nynäshamn Municipality. The unit has been created as part of a larger organizational change to coordinate and streamline the social services' efforts. Here, about 20 employees work with specialist competence in areas such as children and youth, adults, elderly care, people with disabilities, financial assistance, family law, and administration. The Unit Manager has 3 group leaders under them, so an important part of the role is to support group leaders and lead the operation through them.
As a unit manager, you will be a key person in this change. You will lead the work to shape a reception that offers accessible and quality-assured support for municipal residents. The assignment involves receiving cases, making preliminary assessments, handling simpler cases, and ensuring that cases requiring further investigation are managed smoothly.
You also have an overarching responsibility to create effective collaboration between the reception and other units, as well as external partners. The role offers great opportunities to influence and develop both working methods and culture in a completely new operation, with a focus on innovation and citizen benefit.
You report to the Head of the Department for Needs-Assessed Support, which is a completely new department. The placement is likely in Nynäshamn Municipality's town hall, where you work closely with both your team and the management of the social administration. The Unit Manager is also part of the department's management group.
What We Are Looking For in You
- Education: A degree in social work is required.
- Experience: Several years of experience in the role of unit manager (or equivalent) within social services, where budget and personnel responsibility have been included.
- Knowledge: Good and broad knowledge of the Social Services Act, experience in systematic work environment efforts and quality management systems. Knowledge of the operations of collaborating authorities.
- Meritorious: Experience of working in a joint reception, experience with children and youth, and broad experience in social work (e.g., LSS, domestic violence, financial assistance). Understanding of and experience with the Signs of Safety method and family-oriented working methods are also meritorious.
Personal Qualities We Are Looking For
We are looking for you who are an engaged and clear leader with the ability to build strong teams and create trusting relationships. You are strategic and analytical, yet attentive and empathetic in your leadership. Your drive to create long-term solutions and your desire to make a difference are central to the role. You thrive in change and can handle challenges with a positive and creative approach.
