Department Head for Boat Maintenance Department

About the Unit

The main task of the Boat Maintenance Department is to provide preventive and corrective maintenance on boats and equipment for the Amphibious Forces. The department is currently in a strong growth phase. The Boat Maintenance Department is part of the Marine Workshops with operations in central and southern Sweden.

Main Responsibilities

As the department head, you will report directly to the head of the Marine Workshops and be part of the management team. The position includes personnel responsibility and delegated tasks within work environment, quality, and electrical safety. You are responsible for ensuring that operations, budget, results, development, improvement, and work environment function effectively. This includes recruiting staff. The position involves leading the department's personnel, conducting systematic work environment efforts and systematic quality work, as well as developing the operations and creating conditions for the growth that is occurring.

The department head is responsible for ensuring that production is led, planned, and executed in such a way that delivery and quality requirements are met. Important key performance indicators include billing rate, delivery reliability, financial results, accidents/incidents, and complaints. This assignment will allow for great freedom to organize the work and also carry significant responsibility for production and quality. The department should develop over time with more competencies and more production sites.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • B. SC or higher degree in engineering, mechanical work/construction, maintenance technology, maritime studies, or industrial economics, or equivalent experience as assessed by the Armed Forces
  • At least 5 years of experience with maintenance systems/business systems
  • At least 5 years of experience from manufacturing industry/workshop industry/marine technology
  • Several years of experience as a production manager/site manager in workshop, shipyard, or industrial environment, or documented experience in equivalent leadership positions
  • Practical experience in work environment efforts, personnel issues, and business systems
  • Project management or equivalent

DESIRABLE

  • M. SC in engineering, mechanical work/construction, maintenance technology, maritime studies, or industrial economics
  • Experience in maintenance management within shipping, shipping companies, and shipyards.
  • Experience in root cause analysis
  • Experience with SAP business systems and certified operations.
  • Experience working as a manager in a government agency within the Armed Forces family
  • Experience with the Armed Forces, the Defense Materiel Administration, and the PRIO business system

Employment type: Permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period.
Employment rate: Full-time.
Work location: Muskö. The Armed Forces has an established bus service starting at Vattugatan with stops at Gullmarsplan, Sockenvägen, Västerhaninge station, Ribbyskolan, Ösmo traffic junction, and Muskö base.
Start date: As soon as possible by agreement.
Business trips may occur as part of the job responsibilities.
