Vällingby School is expanding its adapted primary school and is looking for a recreation leader (lärare mot fritidshem) who wants to help develop our operations.

Vällingby School is a pleasant F-9 school (grades 0-9) with an adapted primary school section, located near Vällingby Centre and beautiful green areas. There are approximately 740 students and 140 employees in total. For several years, we have had students in grades 7-9 at the adapted primary school section. Starting from the spring term of 2026, we have also started accepting students in grades 1-6 and will further expand this operation in the autumn term of 2026.

At Vällingby School, there is dedicated and experienced staff striving to provide the best possible school for their students. Over the last few academic years, we have focused on strengthening the school's student health work by increasing the number of special education teachers, counselors, and school nurses, as well as introducing full-time mentors in grades 4-9. During the previous academic year, the school became HBTQ-certified!

The school management consists of the principal, three deputy principals, and an administrative manager. Vällingby School's student health team includes the principal, deputy principals, special education teachers, school nurses, a psychologist, a study and career counselor, and two counselors. We have a special education teacher at each educational stage, as well as special teachers.

Your role

In the role of a recreation leader, you will be responsible for ensuring that the instruction is designed in accordance with the Education Act, the curriculum, and other national and municipal regulatory documents.

In the recreation center (for students in grades 1-6) and the short-term care operation (for students in grades 7-9), you and your colleagues offer students a meaningful leisure time by starting from the students' needs, interests, and experiences, but also by continuously challenging them further and inspiring new discoveries. In your teaching, you work to promote students' imagination, empathy, and ability to learn together with others through play, movement, and creative activities with aesthetic expression forms, as well as exploratory and practical working methods.

You are a clear leader and have the ability to create a work environment characterized by learning, security, and community. You are motivated by seeing each student develop based on their individual prerequisites. You have high expectations of the students' ability to develop.

You are structured, responsible, unpretentious, communicative, and have a good ability to plan and prioritize your work. You work in close collaboration with your colleagues both during the school day and during recreation and KTT (Student Health Team) times. Together with your colleagues, you strive for a trusting, open, and respectful collaboration with the homes.

Your work is permeated by cooperation, participation, and a desire to develop the operations – always with the student's best interest at the center.

Your qualifications and experience

You who apply:

• are a licensed recreation leader (lärare i fritidshem).
• have experience in conducting instruction that gives the student the opportunity to develop ideas, solve problems, and put ideas into action.
• have experience within adapted primary school and working with students with intellectual disabilities and various types of NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) diagnoses.
• have good insight and knowledge of the regulatory documents for adapted primary school and the recreation center.
• follow up, assess, communicate, and document the student's knowledge development, thereby supporting the student's development and learning.
• have good cooperation skills and can build good relationships.
• master the Swedish language both in speech and writing.

You are secure, stable, have good self-insight, and adapt your approach depending on the situation. You appreciate working towards goals and focus on continuous improvements of the operations and your own professional practice. You have good cooperation skills with colleagues, students, guardians, and other professions. You have a good ability to listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts in a constructive way. You are structured by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work in an effective way.
