You as a newly graduated teacher have the right to a mentor during your first year, the introductory period.
Your role
Johan Skytteskolan is looking for a special needs teacher/pedagogue with a focus on language, writing, and reading development, or alternatively mathematics, in grades 7-9. The position is a parental leave substitute at 80%, with immediate start.
With us, you are part of the school's student health team, which is also a separate work team and consists of different professions such as counselor, school nurse, study and career counselor, teaching assistants, and school leaders. You are expected to work in close collaboration with other special needs teachers/pedagogues as well as subject teachers.
Responsibilities and tasks are distributed within the group, for example, regarding observations, documentation, and tasks concerning students with problematic absenteeism. The position also includes supporting regular teachers in the work regarding students in need of extra adaptations and special support. You will participate in development work regarding extra adaptations and special support with the aim of developing more inclusive learning environments throughout the school.
Your competence and experience
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and the following competencies:
- You have good cooperation skills and can build good relationships as the work involves many contact points with students, staff, and guardians.
- We are looking for you who are a licensed special needs teacher with a focus on language, writing, and reading development, or alternatively mathematics. You should have work experience and preferably experience as a special needs teacher.
Meritorious experience/knowledge
- Experience working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities.
- Good knowledge of leadership and stimulation, extra adaptations, and special support.
- Good knowledge of dyscalculia.
- Good knowledge and experience in conducting screenings, writing investigations, and action plans.
You should have the competence/ability to:
- Lead and organize the work so that a safe learning environment is created.
- Evaluate how effective different teaching strategies and adaptations are and adjust the teaching accordingly in consultation with the teaching teacher.
- Make the student involved in the planning and develop the student's ability to learn, both independently and together with others.
- Acquire the results of current research and development work.
- See collegial learning as a natural starting point for creating new and in-depth knowledge.
- Collaborate and strive to develop together.
