Brå's task is to promote crime prevention through development, research, statistics, and knowledge dissemination, primarily to the government and authorities within the justice system. We currently have approximately 220 employees.

Brå is a growing authority, and the Unit for Law, Procurement, Registry, Archives, and Finance (JURAE) is now looking for one or two lawyers to join us as in-house counsel. You will work in a pleasant unit with dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues. We collaborate closely and share knowledge and experiences. You will become an important part of our unit and will work particularly closely with the other in-house counsel and the Chief Legal Officer.

About the Job

Brå's core operations consist of research, statistics, and the development of crime prevention work. Over the past year, several parts of Brå's operations have grown significantly and will continue to do so. The role of in-house counsel at Brå has a broad legal focus, and you will provide legal support to the operations on various legal matters. The most common legal areas are administrative law, criminal law, public access and confidentiality, and data protection. Issues related to security protection, contracts, and grants also arise. As the authority is undergoing a digitalization journey, IT-related legal issues are becoming increasingly relevant.

The work includes, among other things, reviewing the authority's research reports from a legal perspective, answering questions from the operations, developing and updating guidelines, supporting issues regarding state grants, or writing legal investigations within areas such as administrative law or public access and confidentiality. The role also involves conducting training in relevant legal areas, responding to certain official consultations, and assisting various projects with legal expertise.

Brå is an authority with short decision-making paths where we work closely with other organizational units. As in-house counsel, there are good opportunities to influence working methods and which organizational units you serve as a contact person for. It is an advantage if you enjoy operational development, as we continuously work on developing our methods and how we best support the operations.

Your Education and Experience

We are looking for you who have:

• An academic degree from the Law program or equivalent
• A few years of current experience in qualified legal work within the public sector

The following is meritorious:

• Experience in legal areas relevant to the position, such as administrative law, criminal law, data protection, and public access and confidentiality
• Experience working at a law enforcement authority or another authority relevant to the position
• Notarial qualifications or equivalent professional experience from the courts

Your Personal Qualities

To succeed in the role of in-house counsel with us, you need to be independent, responsible, and meticulous. You have high integrity but are also flexible and non-hierarchical, finding pragmatic solutions to move the authority's work forward. You can switch quickly between different tasks and prioritize under time pressure, and you have excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. In the role of in-house counsel, you will support employees with legal issues across all parts of Brå's operations. Therefore, it is important that you communicate and collaborate well with others, are pedagogical, and structured. You should also be interested in development work and feel comfortable conducting training within the authority.

Terms of Employment

The position is a permanent full-time employment, with a start date as agreed. Brå applies a 6-month probation period and individual salary setting.
