After-School Care Teacher at Vasaskolan in Strängnäs

Vasaskolan is a three-track primary school (grades F–3) located in central Strängnäs, just a five-minute walk from the central train station. The school has approximately 240 students and is operated by Strängnäs Municipality.

About the Position

The school hosts an after-school care program divided into two departments. We have a strong student base and a highly qualified team with ample resources, including teachers for Swedish as a Second Language (SvA), three special education teachers, one special needs pedagog, and a full-time counselor.

Responsibilities

1 full-time position – After-School Care Teacher

You will serve as the pedagogical lead for one of the after-school departments. Together with the rest of the after-school staff, you will manage and develop the program in alignment with national curriculum goals, support students’ goal achievement, and strengthen collaboration between departments.

The after-school care program should stimulate students’ development and learning while offering a meaningful leisure time through varied teaching methods, forms of expression, inspiration, and learning environments that integrate care and education.

During school hours, you will collaborate with grade 1–2 homeroom teachers to facilitate shared lessons and support. Depending on needs, some subject-specific teaching may also be included.

Qualifications & Merits

• Teacher certification with a specialization in after-school care (required for permanent employment). Applicants currently completing their degree are welcome but will be offered fixed-term contracts if selected.
• Strong proficiency in using digital tools in teaching.
• Excellent command of Swedish, both spoken and written, due to extensive documentation and communication requirements.

Preferred qualifications: Prior experience in after-school care, familiarity with the Swedish curriculum for preschool classes and after-school care (Lpfö 18), and experience supporting students who need additional help.
