Öknaskolan and Nynäs Castle & Nature Reserve are part of Sörmland Nature Farming, a business within the Culture & Education sector, which is part of Sörmland Region. Öknaskolan is a nature farming upper secondary school with 250 students, of whom 160 live in the school's dormitory. The school offers nature farming education in agriculture, horticulture, horse keeping, animal care, natural sciences, nature tourism, adapted upper secondary school, and vocational introduction. All production is organic. Sörmland Nature Farming is a unique operation in educational and cultural environments with estates around castles and nature reserves that, with its 3,400 hectares, is the largest on the Sörmland coast.

Your Responsibilities

The position involves teaching within the animal care specialization. For the upcoming academic year, the courses/subjects will be Companion Animals, Dog Knowledge, and Keeping Companion Animals. You are offered an stimulating job where further development is a given. Öknaskolan has an animal house with reptiles, rodents, and birds, as well as a dog daycare. You will work together with our other animal teacher, our veterinarian, and two knowledgeable instructors. The work team plans extensively together to give our students the best prerequisites. As a teacher at Öknaskolan, you are highly involved in systematic quality work, value-based work, and pedagogical development. The position includes mentorship.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who have extensive knowledge about animals and animal care. We prefer that you are a trained vocational teacher. You have good cooperation skills and are a clear leader in the classroom. You can adapt to different situations and easily create engagement and participation. Together with other employees, you take responsibility for the entire school's operations. You have the ability to see opportunities for integration between subject areas as well as theory and practice.

A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
